2013 UCI Europe Tour
The 2013 UCI Europe Tour was the ninth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2013 season began on 27 January 2013 with the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise, Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise and ended on 20 October 2013 with the Chrono des Nations. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. John Degenkolb of Germany was the defending champion of the 2012 UCI Europe Tour. Riccardo Zoidl of Austria was crowned as the 2013 UCI Europe Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. TF1 Group () is a French media holding company. Its best-known property is the broadcast network TF1. The group was formed after TF1 was privatized in April 1987 in which the channel was launched back on January 6 1975 twelve years prior. Daniel Navarro García (born 18 July 1983) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional from 2005 to 2023. Career Navarro was born in Salamanca. Having been one of Alberto Contador's domestiques for most of his career, he left at the end of the 2012 season, and joined on a two-year contract from the 2013 season onwards. In 2013, Navarro won the Vuelta a Murcia and later had his first top ten grand tour finish, finishing 9th overall in the Tour de France. The Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia () is a road bicycle race held in and around Murcia, Spain. The first four editions were reserved to amateurs. Originally the race was held in early March and consisted of five stages. However, due to Spain's financial turmoil, the race was scaled back to three stages in 2011 and two stages in 2012. Arthur Vichot (born 26 November 1988) is a French former professional cyclist, who rode professionally between 2010 and 2020, for the and teams. He is the nephew of Frédéric Vichot, who won stages in the Tour de France in 1984 and 1985. Professional career One tradition of the Tour Down Under is that the fans choose an unknown rider and treat him the way they would a star, by mobbing him at hotels and painting his name on the road. The rider must be a non-English speaking domestique who most likely will not get a start at a major race and will simply act as a bottle carrier.
