Lietuvos Krepšinio Lyga
Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL; ), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier men's professional club basketball league in Lithuania. It is composed of 10 teams, and it is a member of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The best LKL clubs are also annual participants of the top European-wide basketball competitions, including the top-tier level EuroLeague. On April 22, 1993, the Lietuvos krepšinio asociacija (LKA; ) was founded. It was the first professional sports organisation in Lithuania. Lietuvos krepšinio lyga was built on the foundation of the LKA. Former basketball player Šarūnas Marčiulionis is named as the founder of the league. He was the first president of the LKL and served from 1993 to 2002. Remigijus Milašius is the current president of the league since 2013. The league's headquarters is located in Vilnius. BC Sakalai
BC Sakalai was a professional basketball club based in Vilnius, Lithuania, playing in the Lithuanian Basketball League and the Baltic Basketball League. They played their home games at the 1,000-seat Ekinstos laisvalaikio centras. Sakalai means falcons in Lithuanian language. Franchise history Beginning and LKAL champions (1991–1994) BC Sakalai began playing in 1991 at the Lithuanian Basketball A League (LKAL). In 1994, Sakalai managed to win the LKAL Championship and in June 1994, the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) Committee accepted them into the LKL. LKL debut (1994–1995) In their debut season, Sakalai finished in eighth place (17 wins and 23 losses), and were coached by Šarūnas Sakalauskas. Their first win was against NECA Kaunas, 100–88. Clarence "Sonny" Weems (born July 8, 1986) is an American professional basketball player for the Shenzhen Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for the University of Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft and shortly thereafter traded to the Denver Nuggets. He has since played for the Toronto Raptors, Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, and has had stints in Lithuania and Russia. Robertas Javtokas (born March 20, 1980) is a Lithuanian professional basketball executive and former player. He most recently served as sports director of Žalgiris Kaunas. Standing at , he played the center position. He has been a member of the senior men's Lithuanian national team since 2004. In the 2001 NBA draft, he was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 55th overall pick. Mindaugas Reminas
Mindaugas (, , , , ; c. 1203 – 12 September 1263) was the first known Grand Duke of Lithuania and the only crowned King of Lithuania. Little is known of his origins, early life, or rise to power; he is mentioned in a 1219 treaty as an elder duke, and in 1236 as the leader of all the Lithuanians. The contemporary and modern sources discussing his ascent mention strategic marriages along with banishment or murder of his rivals. Ernestas Ežerskis (born 5 May 1987 in Panevėžys, Lithuanian SSR) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player, for Lietkabelis Panevėžys of the Lithuanian Basketball League, but on loan for BC Ežerūnas of the National Basketball League (Lithuania) . Martynas Mažeika
Martynas Mažeika (born 29 January 1985) is a Lithuanian professional basketball executive and former player. At in height, he played as point guard and shooting guard, preferring the latter position. He is currently the general manager for Neptūnas Klaipėda. Professional career Mažeika began his professional career in 2000, aged 15, with the Lithuanian club Neptūnas where he stayed until 2004. Osvaldas Matulionis (born August 19, 1991) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Fuenlabrada of the Primera FEB. He plays in the small forward position. He played for the Lietuvos rytas Vilnius youth system between 2007 and 2009. Professional career In 2013, Matulionis arrived in Spain to play at Força Lleida of the Spanish second division. Marius Runkauskas
Marius Runkauskas (born May 20, 1986) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. He plays primarily at the shooting guard position, but he can also play point guard, if needed. Early years Runkauskas played in the Lithuanian Pupils Basketball League (MKL), for the V. Chomičius basketball school. Professional career Runkauskas started his professional basketball career in the Klaipėda, NKL (Lithuanian 2nd Division) team, Nafta-Uni-Laivitė, in 2003. After he became a champion of the NKL, in 2007, with Nafta-Uni-Laivitė, Klaipėda's strongest basketball club invited him to join their team. BC Neptūnas
Basketball Club Neptūnas (), commonly known as Neptūnas or Neptūnas Klaipėda, is a Lithuanian professional basketball club based in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The club participates in the Lithuanian Basketball League. It was founded in 1962 under the name BC Maistas ( English: ''food'') and in 1964, BC Maistas's name was changed to BC Neptūnas.
