BBC News
BBC News is an operational business division of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) responsible for the gathering and broadcasting of news and current affairs in the UK and around the world. The department is the world's largest broadcast news organisation and generates about 120 hours of radio and television output each day, as well as online news coverage. The service has over 5,500 journalists working across its output including in 50 foreign news bureaus where more than 250 foreign correspondents are stationed. Deborah Turness has been the CEO of news and current affairs since September 2022. In 2019, it was reported in an Ofcom report that the BBC spent £136m on news during the period April 2018 to March 2019. BBC News' domestic, global and online news divisions are housed within the largest live newsroom in Europe, in Broadcasting House in central London. Channel 5 (UK)
5 (formerly known as Channel 5 and Five) is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Paramount Global's UK and Australia division. It was launched in 30 March 1997 to provide a fifth national terrestrial channel in the United Kingdom. Channel 5 was renamed Five, from 16 September 2002 until 13 February 2011. Thomas And Friends
''Thomas & Friends'' is a British children's television series which aired from 9 October 1984 to 20 January 2021. Based on ''The Railway Series'' books by Wilbert Awdry and his son Christopher, the series was developed for television by Britt Allcroft. The series centers on various anthropomorphic engines as well as other vehicles living on the fictional Island of Sodor. Initially being filmed in live action on model sets, whereas the latter half of its run was produced using CGI, over 500 episodes were produced over the course of 24 series. In the United States, it was first broadcast along with the spin-off series, '' Shining Time Station'', on PBS' PTV Park block on 29 January 1989, while broadcast of the series did shift over time, it later aired on PBS Kids up until 2017. Balamory
''Balamory'' is a Scottish live-action children's programme on CBeebies for pre-school children, about a fictional small island community off the west coast of Scotland, named ''Balamory''. Four series were produced from 2002 to 2005 by BBC Scotland, with 253 episodes made (including a DVD-exclusive Christmas episode). The programme was created by Brian Jameson. To celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, 25 episodes from Series 4 were added to BBC iPlayer on 30 August 2022. On 17 September 2024, it was announced that the show will return for two new series in 2026 on CBeebies including bringing back old characters from the past. In May 2025, they held auditions for the children of the nursery. The revival series will be produced by Lion Television Scotland, under a tender contract from the BBC. CBeebies is a British free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast children's television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is also the brand used for all BBC content targeted for children aged six years and under. Its sister channel, CBBC, is intended for older children aged six to twelve. It broadcasts every day from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, timesharing with BBC Four. History On 20 November 2001, the CBeebies name was officially revealed as part of the split of the already-existing CBBC block and would be used as both a children's block and a digital channel. Andrew Neil
Andrew Ferguson Neil (born 21 May 1949) is a British journalist and broadcaster. He was editor of ''The Sunday Times'' from 1983 to 1994. He has presented various political programmes on the BBC and on Channel 4. Born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Neil attended Paisley Grammar School, before studying at the University of Glasgow. He entered journalism in 1973 as a correspondent for ''The Economist''. Neil was appointed editor of ''The Sunday Times'' by Rupert Murdoch in 1983, and held this position until 1994. This Week (BBC One TV Series)
''This Week'' is a British current affairs and politics TV programme. It was screened late on Thursday evenings on BBC One and hosted by former ''Sunday Times'' editor Andrew Neil, with a panel of two commentators, one from the right and the other from the left of the political spectrum. The show was introduced on 16 January 2003, as was the ''Daily Politics'', after a major review of BBC political programmes. It replaced the nightly ''Despatch Box'' (1998–2002), for which Neil had been the sole presenter in its later years. In February 2019, following Neil's decision to step down as host, the BBC announced that ''This Week'' would end in July 2019. The final episode aired on 18 July 2019, a live broadcast from Westminster Central Hall with an invited audience of political dignitaries and celebrities. Louise Amanda Harman (born 1985), better known by the stage name Lady Sovereign, is a British rapper, best known for the songs "9 to 5" and " Love Me or Hate Me". She was signed to Def Jam in 2005 by Jay-Z. Early life and family Harman grew up in Chalkhill Estate in Wembley Park, London. In 2004, she said "When I heard Ms. Dynamite's track 'Booo!' in 2001 it inspired me. I hadn't heard a female MC before that. She's real. The O2 Arena (London)
The O2 Arena, commonly known as The O2, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the centre of The O2 entertainment district on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London, England. It opened in its present form in 2007. It has the third-highest seating capacity of any indoor venue in the United Kingdom, behind Co-op Live and Manchester Arena, and in 2008 was the world's busiest music arena. As of 2022, it is the ninth-largest building in the world by volume with a diameter of 365 metres (399 yards) and a height of 52 metres (57 yards).
