Lewis (TV Series)
''Lewis'' is a British television Detective fiction, detective drama produced for ITV (TV network), ITV, first airing in 2006 (Television pilot, pilot) then 2007 (series 1). It is a spin-off from ''Inspector Morse (TV series), Inspector Morse'' and, like that series, it is set in Oxford. Kevin Whately reprises his character Inspector Lewis, Robert "Robbie" Lewis, who was Morse's sergeant in the original series. Lewis has now been promoted to detective inspector and is assisted by Detective Sergeant James Hathaway, DS James Hathaway, portrayed by Laurence Fox, who was promoted to inspector before the eighth series. The series also stars Clare Holman as forensic pathologist Dr. Laura Hobson, likewise reprising her role from ''Inspector Morse''; and, from the eighth series, Angela Griffin as DS Lizzie Maddox. Reporting Scotland
''BBC Reporting Scotland'' is the BBC's national television news programme for Scotland, broadcast on BBC One Scotland from the headquarters of BBC Scotland in Pacific Quay, Glasgow. The programme usually followed after the nationwide bulletin from New Broadcasting House. History Although BBC Television was established in Scotland in February 1952 – and broadcast some opt-out programming – it did not start its daily Scottish television news service until Friday 30 August 1957, initially consisting of a five-minute bulletin at 6.05pm on weekdays and a sports results programme on Saturdays. The BBC was keen to launch the ''Scottish News Summary'' ahead of its new commercial rival in the central belt, Scottish Television (STV) and before the launch of similar bulletins elsewhere in the UK. STV Rugby
''STV Rugby'' was a Scottish regional television programme featuring highlights of Pro12 rugby union matches involving Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors. The programme, produced by the STV News department in Glasgow, was first broadcast in the 2009-10 season after a deal with the Celtic League Association, Scottish Rugby and STV was reached, following the closure of Setanta Sports in the UK. Magners League rugby returned to STV for the 2010-11 season, under the new name of '' Sports Centre: Rugby''. The ''STV Rugby'' brand returned for the 2011-12 season, after ''Sports Centre'' was axed. The 2012/2013 season was the last to be covered by ''STV Rugby''. Broadcasts The hour-long highlights programme was broadcast on Sunday afternoons during the Celtic League season and was available online on the STV Player after transmission. ''wknd@stv'' was a short-lived children's programming strand on Scottish television channel, STV. The block aired on Saturdays and Sundays, usually starting at 9:25am (the first ever edition began at 9:55am). It began on Saturday 17 January 2009 with a three-hour edition. The majority of editions were one to two hours in length. The first series was originally scheduled to run for twelve weeks (to Sunday 12 April 2009), but STV subsequently decided to extend the run, which eventually ended on 21 June, just before the Scottish school summer holidays. A second series of ''wknd@stv'' began on Saturday 15 August 2009; this ran for six weeks, ending on 20 September 2009. Featured programming consisted of cartoons, live-action drama/comedy and gameshows, principally archive output produced or co-produced by Scottish/Grampian (formerly ''SMG Productions'' or ''Scottish Television Enterprises''); there was also some imported programming to which STV holds the rights, such as ''Flyin ... Tank Commander
A tank is an armoured fighting vehicle intended as a primary offensive weapon in front-line ground combat. Tank designs are a balance of heavy firepower, strong armour, and battlefield mobility provided by tracks and a powerful engine; their main armament is often mounted within a turret. They are a mainstay of modern 20th and 21st century ground forces and a key part of combined arms combat. Modern tanks are versatile mobile land weapons platforms whose main armament is a large-calibre tank gun mounted in a rotating gun turret, supplemented by machine guns or other ranged weapons such as anti-tank guided missiles or rocket launchers. They have heavy vehicle armour which provides protection for the crew, the vehicle's munition storage, fuel tank and propulsion systems. The use of tracks rather than wheels provides improved operational mobility which allows the tank to overcome rugged terrain and adverse conditions such as mud and ice/snow better than wheeled vehicles, and ...
