2009 Qatar Open
The 2009 Qatar Open, known as the 2009 Qatar ExxonMobil Open for sponsorship reasons, was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 17th edition of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, and part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2009 ATP World Tour. It took place at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha, Qatar, from January 5 through January 10, 2009. The event offered prize money of US$183,000 for the winner, as well as 250 ranking points. The singles field was headlined by world No. 1 Rafael Nadal, world No. 2 Roger Federer, world No. 3 Andy Murray, and world No. 8 Andy Roddick. ATP World Tour 250 Series
The ATP 250 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 250'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series'', and ''ATP World Series'') are the lowest tier of annual men's tennis tournaments on the main ATP Tour, after the four Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam/major tournaments, ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, ATP 1000 tournaments, and ATP 500 tournaments, ATP 500 tournaments. As of 2024 ATP Tour, 2024, the series included 38 tournaments, with 250 ranking points awarded to each singles champion—which accounts for the name of the series. Draws consist of 28, 32, or 48 for singles and 16 for doubles. Gaël Sébastien Monfils (; born 1 September 1986) is a French professional tennis player. He has been ATP rankings, ranked as high as world No. 6 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), achieved in November 2016. Óscar Hernández Pérez (; born 10 April 1978 in Barcelona, Spain) is a former professional male tennis player from Spain. He turned pro in 1998 and achieved his career-high singles ranking of World No. 48 in October 2007. Philipp Petzschner (born 24 March 1984) is a retired German professional tennis player. He was known for his hard-hitting forehand and backhand slices. Andreas Seppi (born 21 February 1984) is an Italian former professional tennis player. He reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 18 on 28 January 2013. Iván Navarro Pastor (; born 19 October 1981) is a tennis coach and a former professional player from Spain. He reached a career high singles ranking of No. 67 in March 2009.
