2008–09 ACB Season
The 2008–09 ACB season is the 26th season of the Liga ACB. The 272-game regular season (16 home games for each of the 17 teams) began on Saturday, October 4, 2008, and ended on Sunday, May 10, 2009. Liga ACB
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administered by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Primera FEB and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Española de Baloncesto (1957–1983), Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. Club Bàsquet Manresa S.A.D., also known as Baxi Manresa for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Manresa, Spain. The team plays in the Liga ACB and the Champions League. It home arena is the Pavelló Nou Congost. In 1998, Bàsquet Manresa won the Spanish Championship in one of the most astonishing and well-known sporting accomplishment in Europe. Nik Caner-Medley
Nik Caner-Medley (born October 20, 1983) is an Azerbaijani-American former professional basketball player. Caner-Medley played four seasons of college basketball at the University of Maryland. High school career Caner-Medley graduated from Deering High School in Portland, Maine, in 2002. Among his achievements were NHSCA Boys Basketball Athlete of the Year, Maine's Mr. Basketball and the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year. A remarkable scorer as a senior, he tallied a school-record 51 points against South Portland, scored 47 points in consecutive games, had one game with 46 and another with 44 during his final high school campaign. Curtis Borchardt
Curtis Alan Borchardt (born September 13, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player. He is a 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m) tall center. Amateur career Borchardt played high school basketball in Sammamish, Washington (then Redmond), for Eastlake High School. He then attended Stanford University, where he was an honorable mention All-American as a junior in 2002. Pro career Borchardt was selected 18th overall in the first round by the Orlando Magic in the 2002 NBA draft but was traded to the Utah Jazz. Injury-prone in college, this continued as he sat out his rookie season. He made his Jazz debut in the 2003–04 campaign. Eugene "Pooh" Jeter III (; born December 2, 1983) is an American-born naturalized Ukrainian professional basketball coach, executive and former player, currently serving as a player development coach for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and assistant GM for the Rip City Remix of the NBA G League. Taqwa Pinero (born Taquan Dean on August 6, 1983) is an American professional basketball player who lastly played for Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez of the LNB Pro A. Amateur career He was born in Red Bank, New Jersey and attended Neptune High School in Neptune Township, New Jersey.
