Qassam Rocket
The Qassam rocket ( ; also ''Kassam'') is a simple, steel artillery rocket developed and deployed by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas. These rockets cannot be fired to target specific military objectives in or near civilian areas, and are "indiscriminate when used against targets in population centers". Since the rocket was first manufactured in 2001 by Tito Masoud and Nidal Farhat, three models of the Qassam rocket have been produced and used. Katyusha Rocket Launcher
The Katyusha ( rus, Катю́ша, p=kɐˈtʲuʂə, a=Ru-Катюша.ogg) is a type of rocket artillery first built and fielded by the Soviet Union in World War II. Multiple rocket launchers such as these deliver explosives to a target area more intensively than conventional artillery, but with lower accuracy and requiring a longer time to reload. They are fragile compared to artillery guns, but are cheap, easy to produce, and usable on almost any chassis. Ramallah
Ramallah ( , ; ) is a Palestinians, Palestinian city in the central West Bank, that serves as the administrative capital of the State of Palestine. It is situated on the Judaean Mountains, north of Jerusalem, at an average elevation of above sea level, adjacent to al-Bireh. Al-Aqsa Intifada
The Second Intifada (; ), also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, was a major uprising by Palestinians against Israel and its occupation from 2000. Starting as a civilian uprising in Jerusalem and Israel proper, Israeli security responded with extreme violence, killing over 100 Palestinian protesters within the first few weeks. This led to the uprising devolving into a period of heightened violence in Palestine and Israel. Ibrahim Hamed
Ibrahim Hamed (إبراهيم حامد; born 1965 in Silwad (age )) is a Hamas military commander in the West Bank who ordered suicide bombing attacks during the Second Intifada which he claimed is due to Israeli attacks on Palestinians until he was apprehended by Israeli Yamam unit on 23 May 2006. Israeli authorities accused him of being responsible for 96 civilian deaths. Ibrahim Hamed was serving 45 life sentences in Israeli prison for orchestrating many suicide attacks in Israel that killed dozens of civilians. It appeared that Hamed was interned under consecutive 6-month administrative detention orders by the Israeli government. Israel tried Hamed in military court, and on 27 June 2012 he was convicted of killing 46 people. Rehavam Ze'evi ( ; 20 June 192617 October 2001) was an Israeli general and politician who founded the far-right nationalist Moledet party. He mainly advocated for complete cleansing of the Palestinian population through population transfer. Jericho ( ; , ) is a city in the West Bank, Palestine, and the capital of the Jericho Governorate. Operation Bringing Home The Goods
Operation Bringing Home the Goods () was a raid launched by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on March 14, 2006, on a Palestinian prison in Jericho. The prison held several prisoners wanted by Israel, whose incarceration was monitored by British and American wardens. In early 2006, the newly elected Hamas government announced that it intended to release the prisoners. On March 14, the monitors left, and the IDF raided the prison. The prisoners put up a fight and, after a ten-hour siege, surrendered and were arrested. A series of riots and kidnapping of foreigners ensued throughout the Palestinian territories.
