The 2002 PBA season was the 28th season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). ''PBA on Viva TV'' is a Television in the Philippines, Philippine television sports presentation show broadcast by Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, IBC. It aired from February 20, 2000 to December 25, 2002. The consist of branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Viva Communications, Viva Sports. Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. (; GSMI), formerly La Tondeña Distillers, Inc., is a Philippines-based diversified beverage company majority-owned by San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc. Bill Bayno
Bill Bayno (born May 18, 1962) is an American basketball coach, who currently serves as assistant coach for the APR of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL). He was the men's basketball head coach at Loyola Marymount University from 2008 to 2009, resigning for medical reasons. He was also the head coach of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels men's basketball team from 1995 through 2000. Early life and playing career Bayno grew up in Goshen, New York, where he was an all-county, all-city and ''Daily News'' all-star selection in basketball at John S. Burke Catholic High School. His father, Joe Bayno, was head basketball coach at Burke. 2002 Asian Games
The 2002 Asian Games, officially known as the XIV Asian Games and also known as Busan 2002 (), were an international multi-sport event held in Busan, South Korea from September 29 to October 14, 2002. Due to schedule impediments the football tournament started two days before the opening ceremony. Busan is the second city in South Korea, after Seoul in 1986, to host the Games. A total of 419 events in 38 sports were contested by 7,711 athletes from 44 countries. The Games were also co-hosted by its four neighbouring cities: Ulsan, Changwon, Masan and Yangsan. It was opened by President of South Korea, Kim Dae-jung, at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium. The final medal tally was led by China, followed by host South Korea and Japan. China set a new record and became the first nation in the history of Asian Games to cross the 300 medal-mark in one edition. Alfredo "Al" S. Panlilio is a Filipino businessman and sports executive. He has been the director, president and chief executive officer of PLDT Inc. since June 8, 2021, and wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. since August 8, 2019, and currently, the 77th president of the Management Association of the Philippines. Ricky Vargas
Victorico "Ricky" P. Vargas (born February 24, 1952) is a Filipino executive who served as the 10th President of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) from March 5, 2018, after winning over Jose Cojuangco Jr. in a court-ordered elections held on February 23, 2018, until his resignation on June 18, 2019. San Miguel Beermen
The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots. It is the most successful franchise in the history of the PBA and the only remaining original franchise in the league. Ely Capacio
Eliezer "Ely" O. Capacio (March 14, 1955 – February 23, 2014) was a Filipino basketball player, coach and executive. Born in Palo, Leyte, Philippines, he played a total of eight seasons as a forward-center for the Tanduay Rhum Makers from 1979 to 1986, averaging 5.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in a total of 324 games. The team won two championships during the 1986 PBA season. His younger brother, Glenn Capacio also played in the PBA. Amateur career The 6-4 center-forward was a veteran of the 1975 and 1977 Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) championships and the 1977 SEA games.
