1995 In Irish Television
The following is a list of events relating to television in Ireland from 1995. Events *24 April – Network 2 airs the long running PBS television series for preschoolers ''Barney & Friends'' at 2 o'clock. The series was also very popular in Ireland and has often been transmitted on Network 2/ RTÉ 2 as years and months go by, making it one of the most popular imported children's programmes on Irish television. *13 May – For the third year running, Ireland hosts the Eurovision Song Contest. This year marks the 40th event, presented by Mary Kennedy from The Point Theatre, Dublin. The BBC had offered to stage this year's Contest as a joint venture with RTÉ in Belfast as RTÉ were concerned they would not be able to afford the cost of hosting a third consecutive Contest. Ultimately an agreement was made that the BBC would host the 1996 event should Ireland win for a fourth time. However, it was won by Norway. Fantomcat
''Fantomcat'' is a British animated series produced by Cosgrove Hall Films. It was first broadcast between 7 September 1995 and 18 December 1996, and was animated by Alfonso Productions, a Spanish animation studio also responsible for animating and bringing Cosgrove Hall's shows ''Count Duckula'', '' Victor and Hugo: Bunglers in Crime'', ''Avenger Penguins'', '' Sooty's Amazing Adventures'' and '' The Foxbusters'' to life, Milimetros, another Spanish animation studio, and in-house by Cosgrove Hall themselves. It aired largely on Children's ITV. The series also had a run on Pop from 2003 to 2005. It was the first Cosgrove Hall cartoon to be animated with a process called Animo, wherein the animation drawings were scanned and then digitally coloured on computers. The first season was produced and directed by Ben Turner, while the second and final season was produced and directed by its creator, Andy Roper. ''The Flintstones'' is an American animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera, Hanna-Barbera Productions, which takes place in a romanticized Stone Age setting and follows the titular family, the Flintstones, and their next-door neighbors, the Rubbles. ''Cadillacs and Dinosaurs'' is an animated television series produced by De Souza Productions, Galaxy Films and Nelvana, which aired on CBS as part of its Saturday morning children's lineup in the United States from 1993 to 1994, lasting for one season of 13 episodes. Based on ''Xenozoic Tales'' by Mark Schultz, the show was created by screenwriter Steven E. de Souza, who acquired the TV rights after producing the video game '' Cadillacs and Dinosaurs'', which was also based on Schultz's comic. The show dealt with many strong ecological and political issues that were central to the plot development. Yogi Bear
Yogi Bear is an anthropomorphic animal character who has appeared in numerous comic books, animated television shows, and films. He made his debut in 1958 as a supporting character in ''The Huckleberry Hound Show''. He was created by Hanna-Barbera and was eventually more popular than ostensible star Huckleberry Hound. In January 1961, he was given his own show, '' The Yogi Bear Show'', sponsored by Kellogg's, which included the segments ''Snagglepuss'' and '' Yakky Doodle''. '' Hokey Wolf'' replaced his segment on ''The Huckleberry Hound Show''. A musical animated feature film, '' Hey There, It's Yogi Bear'', was released in 1964. ''Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines'' (or simply ''Dastardly and Muttley'' in the UK and Ireland) is an American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera, Hanna-Barbera Productions, and a spin-off of ''Wacky Races (1968 TV series), Wacky Races''. The show was originally broadcast as a Saturday morning cartoon, airing from September 13, 1969, to January 3, 1970, on CBS. The show focuses on the efforts of Dick Dastardly and his canine sidekick Muttley to catch Yankee Doodle Pigeon, a carrier pigeon who carries secret messages (hence the name of the show's theme song "Stop the Pigeon"). ''Biker Mice from Mars'' is an American animated series created by Rick Ungar. The series premiered in syndication the week of September 19, 1993. It consists of three seasons of 65 episodes, with the final episode airing in syndication the week of February 24, 1996. The show follows three anthropomorphic mice motorcyclists named Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie who escape a war on their home planet Mars before arriving to rebel on the Earth against the species that destroyed their homeland (the Plutarkians) and to one day return to Mars. The mice's signature weapons consist of a cestus and a laser pistol (Throttle), a bionic arm with built-in laser blaster (Modo), and flares (Vinnie).
