Khafji
Ras al-Khafji ( ') or Khafji () is a City and Governorate on the border between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. It lies in what was before 1970 the Saudi Arabian–Kuwaiti neutral zone. The Battle of Khafji took place in and around the town in 1991 and marked the high tide of Iraq's advance through Kuwait and into Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War. Faisal Saeed Al Mutar
Faisal Saeed Al Mutar (; born 1991) is an Iraqi-American human-rights activist and social entrepreneur who was admitted to the United States as a refugee in 2013. He is founder of Global Conversations and Ideas Beyond Borders and formerly worked for Movements.org to assist dissidents in closed societies worldwide. He became an American citizen in June 2019. Biography Faisal Saeed Al Mutar was born in Hillah, Iraq, in 1991. He later moved to Baghdad. Al Mutar grew up in a religiously moderate Muslim family in Iraq, though he remained nonreligious throughout his upbringing. He described growing up under Saddam as being exposed to the "motherlode of misinformation". Al Mutar's writings and secular lifestyle made him a target for threats and attacks by al-Qaeda. Zuhal Sultan
Zuhal Sultan (; born 1991 in Baghdad, Iraq) is an Iraqi pianist and activist. She founded the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq at the age of 17. Early life and music Born in Baghdad, Iraq, in July 1991, Zuhal Sultan is the youngest of a scientific family of two boys and two girls. Both of her parents obtained their Ph.D. degrees in natural sciences from universities in the United Kingdom. She started piano studies at the age of six with the help of a private tutor, then she auditioned to join the Music and Ballet School of Baghdad at the age of 9. After the departure from Iraq of many artists and intellectuals as a result of the 2003 Iraq War, Zuhal was left without a piano teacher. Yaser Safa Kasim Al-Kadefaje (; born 10 May 1991) is an Iraqi former footballer who played as a midfielder. Early life At age 6 Kasim left Iraq with his family to Jordan and after spending a year in Jordan where he experienced his first taste of school, the family arrived in England. His mother told of a story of when he was young, kicking a ball in their second floor flat in West London, the peppy Yaser would break everything at home and have the neighbours below complaining about her son. They told her to take him to the park to play. She remembered one amusing memory of Yaser telling her to stand in goal so he could take shots at her! Later Yaser's parents would take him to the Westway Sports Centre, paying £2 a week to play a variety of sports. They wanted him to take up tennis and he was a competent player however he pleaded to his parents to allow him to play football, his true passion. Jalal Hassan Hachem (; born 18 May 1991) is an Iraqi footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Al-Zawraa and the Iraq football team. The University of Babylon (Arabic: جامعة بابل) is a university located in Babylon, Iraq. It consists of 20 colleges within three compounds, located seven kilometers south of the city of Hillah, in Babylon Province. The campus was originally the Administrative Institute of Babylon. 1991 Iraqi Uprisings
The 1991 Iraqi uprisings were ethnic and religious uprisings against Saddam Hussein's Ba'athist regime in Iraq that were led by Shia Arabs and Kurds. The uprisings lasted from March to April 1991 after a ceasefire following the end of the Gulf War. The mostly uncoordinated insurgency was fueled by the perception that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had become vulnerable to regime change. The Highway of Death ( ''ṭarīq al-mawt'') is a six-lane highway connecting Kuwait and Iraq, officially known as Highway 80.
