Pak Song-chol
Pak Song-chol or Park Sung-chul (; 2 September 1913 – 28 October 2008) was a North Korean politician who served as Premier of North Korea from 1976 to 1977. He succeeded Kim Il. He also served as foreign minister from 1959 to 1970. Biography Pak Song-Chol was born in Keishū, Keishōhoku-dō (today North Gyeongsang Province) during the Japanese colonial period. He attended and dropped out of Sophia University in Japan. While studying abroad, he joined the Japanese Communist Party. Pak participated in Anti-Japan Partisan in Manchukuo in April 1934. In 1936, he was a youth member of the 1st corps of the 5th Army of the Tohoku Anti-Japanese Union. During this period, he was described as an extremely loyal and courageous youth member. Kim Mi-Yong (also ''Kim Mi-Yeong'', ; born 6 May 1983 in Nampo, Pyeongannam) is a North Korean table tennis player. She won a gold medal, as a member of the North Korea table tennis team, at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, and silver at the 2001 World Table Tennis Championships in Osaka, Japan. As of January 2010, Kim is ranked no. 84 in the world by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Kim Jong Un (born 8 January 1983 or 1984) is a North Korean politician and dictator who has served as supreme leader of North Korea since 2011 and general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) since 2012. Rangoon Bombing
The Rangoon bombing of 9 October 1983, was an assassination attempt against Chun Doo-hwan, the fifth president of South Korea, in Rangoon, Burma. The attempt was orchestrated by North Korea. Although Chun survived, 21 people died in the attack and 46 were injured. One suspect was later killed, and the two other suspected bombers were captured, one of whom confessed to being a North Korean military officer. Bombing On 9 October 1983, President Chun Doo-hwan flew to Rangoon on an official visit to the capital of Burma. During the visit he planned to lay a wreath at the Martyrs' Mausoleum to commemorate Aung San, one of the founders of independent Burma who was assassinated in 1947. 1983 Chosonminhang Ilyushin Il-62 Crash
On 1 July 1983, a CAAK Ilyushin Il-62M operating a scheduled international charter flight from Pyongyang, North Korea to Conakry Guinea via Bamako, Mali, carrying 23 passengers and crew, crashed into mountainous terrain whilst approaching Conakry International Airport. All 23 occupants on board were killed. The aircraft was flying from Pyongyang with construction cargo and workers ahead of the 1984 Organization of African Unity summit due to take place the following year. It remains the deadliest aviation accident in Guinean history, and was the tenth operational loss of an Il-62 since its introduction. It remains the first and only known fatal aviation accident involving the airline.
