Harcharan Singh Brar
Harcharan Singh Brar (21 January 1922 – 6 September 2009) was an Indian politician belonging to the Punjab unit of Indian National Congress. He was the 13th Chief Minister of Punjab and held this position from 31 August 1995 to 21 November 1996. He succeeded the assassinated Chief Minister Beant Singh. At the time he was member of Punjab Vidhan Sabha from Muktsar Assembly Constituency. Personal life Harcharan Singh Brar, son of Sardar Balwant Singh Brar, was born on 21 January 1922 into a Brar Jat of Sarai Naga Royal Family, which lies along National Highway 16 between Sri Muktsar Sahib and Kot Kapura. Sri Sadiq Ali
Sadiq Ali (born 1910 in Udaipur in British India, died 2001-17 April) was a freedom fighter. Early life and education He left home at a young age to pursue his studies at Allahabad University and then joined the freedom struggle and was jailed several times. During his studies, he saw the Nehru family in Allahabad closely leading the freedom movement and since then started participating in activities with the Congress in the national movement. He organized a dharna at the Allahabad University to boycott foreign goods and liquor. Then the British government arrested him and sent him to jail. In 1930, Gandhi's salt law was disregarded and then he was jailed. He was Office Secretary and then Permanent Secretary of the AICC from 1936 to 1948. During 1942 he stayed with Gandhiji at the Sevagram Ashram and focused on Khadi village industry. In 1943, he was sentenced to two years under a personal satyagraha. Jothi Venkatachalam (born 27 October 1917, date of death unknown) was an Indian politician who served as Governor of Kerala and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. Life and career Jothi Venkatachalam was born in Maymyo, hill city of British Burma (now Myanmar), on 27 October 1917 to G. Kuppuram and MeenaPai. Her father was appointed to serve in Secretary office of British Burma, resigned and came back to Chennai in 1930 due to political turmoil during that time in Burma. Jothi continued her study in Ewart Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Veppery, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Jothi was more involved in social works and came to the attention of Congress party. Govind Narain, ICS (5 May 1916 – 3 April 2012) was an Indian civil servant who was member of the Indian Civil Service and served as the 8th Governor of Karnataka. He formerly served as Defence Secretary of India (1973 to 1975), Home Secretary of India (1971 to 1973) and the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh (1958 to 1961).
