"By the Sword" is the first official single from the album ''Slash (album), Slash'' by former Velvet Revolver and current Guns N' Roses lead guitarist Slash (musician), Slash. It features Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother on vocals and was released as a digital single on March 16, 2010. It was released in the UK on March 28, 2010. The cover was drawn by Ralph Steadman. The song was premiered on February 26, 2010, on spinner.com. The song was debuted live for the first time on November 22, 2009, at the Slash (musician), Slash & friends performance, where Slash was joined by Andrew Stockdale to play the song live, along with Dave Navarro, Chris Chaney and Travis Barker. In April 2010, both Slash and Andrew Stockdale performed the song live on ''The Tonight Show'', ''Lopez Tonight'', and ''The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson''. Slash (musician)
Saul Hudson (born July 23, 1965), known professionally as Slash, is an American musician, best known as the lead guitarist of the hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and mid-1990s. Slash has received critical acclaim and is considered one of the greatest guitarists in history. Born in Hampstead, London, Slash moved to Los Angeles with his father when he was six years old. His parents were both active in the entertainment industry, and he was given the nickname Slash as a child by actor Seymour Cassel. In 1983 he joined the glam metal band Hollywood Rose, then in 1985 he joined Guns N' Roses (which was composed of former members of Hollywood Rose and L.A. ''The Tonight Show'' is an American late-night talk show that has been broadcast on NBC since 1954. Lenny Castro
Lenny Castro (born September 19, 1956) is an American percussionist from the Los Angeles area. He is one of the most prolific percussionists of all time, appearing on hundreds of albums, including those by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, Maroon 5, U2, Earth, Wind & Fire, and the Rolling Stones, among others. Joshua Ryan Freese (born December 25, 1972) is an American drummer. A member of punk rock band the Vandals since 1989, Freese has also been a member of new wave band Devo since 1996. He was previously a member of hard rock band Guns N' Roses from 1997 to 1999, of rock band Foo Fighters from 2023 to 2025 and a member of alternative rock band A Perfect Circle from 1999 to 2012, the latter of which he rejoined in 2024.
