Bus Preservation Society Of Western Australia
The Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia (BPSWA) is a bus preservation society in Perth, Western Australia. It operates a museum in Whiteman Park. History Following the closure of the Trolleybuses in Perth, Perth trolleybus system in August 1969, the Western Australian Electric Transport Association was formed. In November 1981, the association split into two societies; the Bus Museum of Western Australia and the Perth Electric Tramway Society. Having initially stored its collection in Bellevue, Western Australia, Bellevue, in 1990 all were relocated to Transperth's Trigg, Western Australia, Trigg depot before a permanent move to Whiteman Park in April 1993. In March 2000, the Bus Museum of Western Australia was renamed the Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia. Whiteman Park
Whiteman Park is a bushland area located north of Perth, Western Australia. Whiteman Park Railway Station
Whiteman Park railway station is a suburban railway station on the Ellenbrook line in Perth, Western Australia. Midland Railway Workshops
The Midland Railway Workshops in Midland, Western Australia, were the main workshops for the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) for over 80 years, (1904-1994). History The first railway workshops in Western Australia were located at Fremantle and shifted to Midland in 1904. The Midland Railway Workshops were involved with all WAGR rolling stock and engine construction and maintenance. Steam engines continued to operate on mainline service until 1971, and all major maintenance occurred at the workshops. Workforce Generations of workers at the workshops had considerable numbers of European migrants who arrived in Australia with limited English language, and there were significant groups of Italian migrants in the workforce. Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) was the state owned operator of railways in the state of Western Australia between October 1890 and June 2003. Owned by the state government, it was renamed a number of times to reflect extra responsibility for tram and ferry operations that it assumed and later relinquished. Westrail was the trading name of the WAGR from September 1975 until December 2000, when the WAGR's freight division and the Westrail brand were privatised. Sydney Bus Museum (formerly the Sydney Bus and Truck Museum) is a not-for-profit organisation made up of over 200 volunteer members who preserve a rare, and invaluable collection of historic buses. The organisation also operate a transportation museum and education centre for public benefit located in the suburb of Leichhardt, in Sydney, Australia. The museum is open to the public on the first and third Sunday of each month. The museum restores, maintains, displays and operates over 80 buses and support vehicles from the 1920s to 2000s. Transperth
Transperth is the public transport system for Perth and surrounding areas in Western Australia. It is managed by the Public Transport Authority (PTA), a state government organisation, and consists of train, bus and ferry services. Bus operations are contracted out to Swan Transit, Path Transit and Transdev. Ferry operations are contracted out to Captain Cook Cruises. Bellevue is an eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia in the local government areas of the City of Swan and the Shire of Mundaring.
