Gold Mountain Records was a record label based in New York. It was distributed by A&M Records between 1983 and 1985. After 1985, the distributor was MCA Records. History In 1985, Danny Goldberg became the label's president. Goldberg founded an anti-censorship group called the Musical Majority to counter the call for rock and roll records with explicit lyrics to have warning labels. He also wrote a book, ''Bumping into Geniuses'' describing his experience of the music industry by going through the many stages of his career from journalist to manager. Goldberg did PR for Led Zeppelin, managed the career of Nirvana, ran Atlantic Records, Mercury Records and Warner Bros. The Textones
Carla Olson (born July 3, 1952) is an American, Los Angeles-based songwriter, performer and record producer. Biography Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Olson moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1978 where she formed the Textones, whose debut album ''Midnight Mission'' entered the ''Billboard'' 200. Carla is multilingual. She served as a French translator for Malian legend Ali Farka Toure. She also speaks Italian, Japanese and Swedish. An early version of the Textones, consisting of Olson, Kathy Valentine, Markus Cuff, and David Provost, played the late 1970s punk/new wave scene in Los Angeles and toured the US and Europe. They also released an EP in the UK and a single in the US. Their debut album for A&M Records, ''Midnight Mission'', consisted of Olson along with George Callins, Joe Read, Tom Jr Morgan, and Phil Seymour. They also toured the US and Europe. Keel (band)
Keel is an American hard rock/ heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1984. They are best known for their rock anthem "The Right to Rock". The band was active until 1989, with a brief reunion in 1998. Keel reunited again in 2008 and toured in 2009 for their 25th anniversary. Although the band is still active to this day, they have not released any new material since 2010. History Keel was formed by former Steeler vocalist Ron Keel. Bruce Cockburn
Bruce Douglas Cockburn ( ; born May 27, 1945) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. His song styles range from folk to folk- and jazz-influenced rock to soundscapes accompanying spoken stories. His lyrics reflect interests in spirituality, human rights, environmental issues, and relationships, and describe his experiences in Central America and Africa. Cockburn has written more than 350 songs on 34 albums over a career spanning five decades, of which 22 have received a Canadian gold or platinum certification as of 2018, and he has sold more than one million albums in Canada alone. In 2014, Cockburn released his memoirs, '' Rumours of Glory''. Gold Castle Records
Gold Castle Records was an American record label. It was co-owned by music industry veteran Danny Goldberg and Julian Schlossberg (co-producer/co-director of the live music film '' No Nukes''). The label's name is formed from the first halves of each of the co-founders' surnames: "Gold" from Goldberg and "Castle" from Schlossberg, Schloss being the German word for castle. The general manager of Gold Castle was Paula Jeffries, a former executive at Windham Hill. Its records were distributed by PolyGram, then CEMA of EMI. The label's roster included Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary, Eliza Gilkyson, and Eric Andersen. Most of them were without record deals before signing to Gold Castle. Don McLean had two albums on the label in 1989 and 1990.
