Bull Street Tram Stop
Bull Street tram stop is a tram stop on the West Midlands Metro tram system serving Bull Street in the Birmingham city centre, England. Construction started in June 2012, and it was opened on 6 December 2015, becoming the first stop of the city-centre extension to open, and the first on-street tram stop to operate in Birmingham since the closure of the Birmingham Corporation Tramways in 1953, and the temporary southern terminus of the service. The rest of the extension to Grand Central was opened on 30 May 2016, and then onto Edgbaston Village in July 2022. Work started on a new line to Birmingham Moor Street in 2022 which will be gradually extended to the eventual terminus at Birmingham Airport. To allow for the new connection to be made it became necessary to temporarily terminate all trams at Bull Street. The West Midlands Metro is a light-rail/tram system in the county of West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England. CAF Urbos
The CAF Urbos is a family of trams, streetcars, and light rail vehicles built by Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, CAF. The Spain, Spanish manufacturer CAF previously made locomotives, passenger cars, regional, and underground trains. In 1993, CAF started building trams for Metrovalencia, with the delivery of 16 trams until 1999. This was a variant of a Siemens design and some components were delivered by Siemens, including bogies and traction motors. This design was also sold to Trams in Lisbon, Lisbon Trams in 1995; CAF then decided to design and build the Urbos in-house. Birmingham Corporation Tramways operated a network of tramways in Birmingham from 1904 until 1953. It was the largest narrow-gauge tramway network in the UK, and was built to a gauge of . Grand Central Tram Stop
Grand Central tram stop is a tram stop on the city-centre extension of Line 1 of the West Midlands Metro. It opened on 30 May 2016 as the terminus of the line on Stephenson Street outside the shopping centre from which its name was derived and Birmingham New Street station. This stop serves Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Moor Street railway stations. Birmingham Moor Street
Birmingham Moor Street, also known as Moor Street station, is one of three main railway stations in the city centre of Birmingham, England, along with Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Snow Hill. Today's Moor Street station is a combination of the original station, opened in 1909 by the Great Western Railway as a terminus for local trains, and a newer Moor Street station with through platforms, a short distance from the original, which opened in 1987, replacing the original. The two were combined into one station in 2002, when the original was reopened and restored, and the newer station rebuilt in matching style. St Chads Tram Stop
St Chads tram stop is a tram stop on the city-centre extension of Line 1 of the West Midlands Metro in the United Kingdom, adjacent to Snow Hill railway station. It opened on 2 June 2016 as part of the extension into Birmingham city centre as a replacement for the previous Snow Hill terminus tram stop. Initially named Snow Hill, it was renamed St Chads in January 2017, taking the name from the nearby St Chad's Cathedral, because on opening the necessary work to allow direct access with Snow Hill railway station had not been completed, and the Snow Hill name was considered confusing for passengers. Bull Street was instead advertised as the principal interchange, its platforms being closer to the main entrance of the rail station. Corporation Street tram stop is a tram stop on Line 1 of the West Midlands Metro serving Corporation Street, a major thoroughfare in Birmingham City Centre, England. Government approval for the extension from Snow Hill to Grand Central was given on 16 February 2012. It was opened on 30 May 2016. The stop only has a shelter on the northbound side.
