Bulgarian Footballer Of The Year
Bulgarian Footballer of the Year (, ''Futbolist №1 na Balgariya'') is an annual title awarded to the best Bulgarian association football player of the year. The award has been given since 1961, and the winner is elected by authorized journalists from the leading Bulgarian media. History 2011 was the first year with a vote held online by fans. The poll has been organized by the Futbol newspaper (1961–1975), the Start newspaper (1975–1998), the Futbol newspaper and Start magazine (1999–present). Despodov 2018
Kiril Vasilev Despodov (; born 11 November 1996) is a Bulgarian professional footballer who plays primarily as a winger for Super League Greece club PAOK and the Bulgaria national team, which he captains. Despodov made his way through the youth teams at Litex Lovech before making his senior debut in 2012 at the age of 15. He became part of CSKA Sofia in June 2016, where he established himself as the team's star player, winning the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year award in 2018 – the first CSKA player to do so since Hristo Stoichkov in 1989. He won it for second time in 2021, and again in 2022. On 23 March 2018, Despodov made his senior international debut for Bulgaria in a 1–0 friendly loss against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Stoycho Mladenov
Stoycho Dimitrov Mladenov (; born 12 April 1957 in Ploski, Blagoevgrad Province) is a Bulgarian former football player and manager. He has 212 matches and 107 goals for CSKA. With the club he won the national title 6 times, 4 as a player and 2 as a coach. Career Mladenov started from small teams like Dimitrovgrad and gradually moved to bigger teams like CSKA Sofia. From there he went all around the world, however his best moments of winning were in Portugal and also with his National Team. His best years were spent as a striker for CSKA Sofia. Radoslav Metodiev Zdravkov (; born 30 July 1956) is a Bulgarian retired footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career Zdravkov was born in Sofia. Georgi Velinov Velinov (; born 5 October 1957 in Ruse), nicknamed Johnny, is a former Bulgarian footballer and football manager. A goalkeeper, he was elected Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1981. Career Velinov played for PFC Dunav Rousse (1974–1975, four A PFG matches) and PFC Cherno More Varna (1976–1978, 37 A PFG matches) before joining PFC CSKA Sofia, of whom he was part of from 1978 to 1987. During his first stay with CSKA, Velinov won the A PFG in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1987 and the Bulgarian Cup in 1981, 1983, 1985 and 1987. Velinov then moved to Portugal to play for S.C. Andrey Kolev Zhelyazkov (; born 9 July 1952 in Radnevo) is a former Bulgarian Association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward. Atanas Hristov Mihaylov (, 5 July 1949 – 1 October 2006) was an association football former forward and manager. Mihаylov is the top scorer in the history of the Bulgaria U21 team, managing 31 goals in 46 appearances. He played 45 games for the Bulgaria national football team, scored 23 goals, and won a silver medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics; he also played at the 1974 World Cup. Pavel Georgiev Panov (; 16 September 1950 – 18 February 2018) was a Bulgarian football player and coach, who played as a midfielder or striker. Career Panov started his career with Septemvri Sofia in 1963 and stayed there until 1968. In 1969, he moved to Spartak Sofia. After the forceful union of Levski Sofia with Spartak in the late 1969 he became one of the best players in blue. In Levski he stayed twelve seasons, playing in 301 games and scoring 130 goals in the Championship. Bozhidar Ivanov Grigorov (; born 27 July 1945) is a retired Bulgarian footballer. Grigorov is best known for his career with Slavia Sofia, for whom he made over 300 appearances in 12 seasons with the club. Kiril Ivkov
Kiril Lozanov Ivkov (; 21 June 1946 – 24 May 2025) was a Bulgarian footballer who played as a defender, most notably for Levski Sofia. In 1974 and 1975 he was named Bulgarian Footballer of the Year. Ivkov made his Bulgaria debut in 1968, earning 44 caps and scoring one goal over an eleven-year international career. He was part of the squad for the 1968 Summer Olympics, where Bulgaria won the silver medal. Ivkov captained his country 10 times and played in the 1974 FIFA World Cup.
