Bulgaria participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in . Bulgarian National Television (BNT), a member organisation of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2007. The Bulgarian National Television ( Bulgarian: Българска национална телевизия, ''Balgarska natsionalna televizia'') or BNT (БНТ), stylized as ·Б·Н·Т· since 2018, is a public television broadcaster of Bulgaria. Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the seventh edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. It was scheduled for 21 November 2009. 13 countries were confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to compete in the contest. The contest was won by Ralf Mackenbach for the Netherlands with the song " Click Clack". At the age of 14, he was the oldest person to win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in its seven-year history. Ivan Ivanov ( Bulgarian: Иван Иванов; born 7 April 2000) is a Bulgarian singer and songwriter. Life and work Ivan Ivanov was born on 7 April 2000 in Gorna Oryahovitsa, a small town in northeastern Bulgaria. Ivanov first became interested in music when he was 7 years old, but started to sing at the age of 8. Poli Plamenova Genova (; born 10 February 1987) is a Bulgarian singer, songwriter, actress, and television presenter. Genova began her career in 1991, at the age of four, as a member of the Bulgarian children's ensemble Bon-Bon. Genova later went on to represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song " Na inat", which did not qualify for the final. She returned to Eurovision five years later in 2016, for the second time representing Bulgaria with the song " If Love Was a Crime". She brought Bulgaria to the final for the first time since 2007, placing fourth, which is Bulgaria's second highest placing ever, behind her successor Kristian Kostov's 2nd place the following year.
