Békásmegyer () is a neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary. It belongs administratively to the 3rd District. Békásmegyer consists of two different parts, a huge high-rise housing estate and the traditional ''Ófalu'' ("Old Village") with older houses. Békásmegyer is divided into two by Suburban railway line H5. Békásmegyer left-side or mountain side and Békásmegyer right-side or Danube side. The left side was an independent village until 1 January 1950, when it was merged into Budapest, while the right side was a water reservoir of the Danube river. Today 41,000 people live in Békásmegyer Microdistrict (13,394 panel flats) and a few thousand in the former village building. Rákospalota
Rákospalota (literally: ''Castle ponRákos rook', ) is a neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary. With Pest-újhely and Új-palota it comprises District XV. History In the early Middle Ages there were about six villages in the northern part of the Rákos plain. About 1200 A.D. a church was built on the little hill next to the Szilas brook - the ancestor of the present Catholic chapel. The first name of the village was Nyír (Birch) but later it became known as Palota (Palace) after the castle of the landowner. The little community had very hard times in the 16th-17th centuries when Buda was under Turkish occupation, but it survived thanks to the residents' strong Calvinist religion. After the liberation of Buda in 1696, by the Habsburgs, Rákospalota became one of the most prosperous villages in the region. Hegyvidék (, literally "''Highlands''", or "''Mountain-land''") is the official name of the XII district of Budapest (), capital of Hungary. It is a region of Buda, on the west bank of river Danube. Geography Being the only district in Buda which has not got a connection to the river Danube, it lies on the green, hilly suburban area of Budapest. It borders 2nd district to the north, the 1st district (Castle district and Gellérthegy) to the east and 11th district ( Kelenföld and Sashegy) to the south. Kőbánya (, , ) is the 10th district of Budapest () and one of the largest by territory. It is located in southeast Pest (city), Pest, easily accessible from the downtown by Budapest Metro, Metro 3, whose Terminal station, terminus is named ''Kőbánya-Kispest''. It has strong industrial and trade union, organized labour traditions; as such, it suffered a decline after the collapse of the Hungarian People's Republic in 1989–90. Name The southern suburb of Pest was named after King Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor, Francis I on 4 December 1792 when he was crowned king of Hungary.
