Bud Bird
John Williston "Bud" Bird, (born March 22, 1932 in Fredericton, New Brunswick) is a Canadian businessman who is a former mayor of the city of Fredericton, a Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, and a Progressive Conservative Party of Canada member of the House of Commons of Canada. Business career In 1958, he founded J. W. Bird and Company Limited, suppliers to the construction industry. In 1975, he acquired William Stairs Son & Morrow Ltd. of Halifax, Nova Scotia, becoming Bird Stairs Limited. The business was sold to employees and today he operates Bird Holdings Ltd. Fredericton (; ) is the capital city of the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Miramichi River
The Miramichi River is a river located in the east-central part of New Brunswick, Canada. The river drains into Miramichi Bay in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The name may have been derived from the Montagnais words "Maissimeu Assi" (meaning Mi'kmaq Land), and it is today the namesake of the Miramichi Herald at the Canadian Heraldic Authority. Geography The Miramichi River watershed drains a territory comprising one-quarter of New Brunswick's territory, measuring approximately 13,000 km² of which 300 km² is an estuarine environment on the inner part of Miramichi Bay. Fredericton-Silverwood was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was first created using the name Fredericton South in the 1973 redrawing of electoral districts by splitting the two-member district of Fredericton and was first used in the 1974 general election. Its name was changed to Fredericton-Silverwood in the 2006 redrawing of electoral districts. The riding was split in two along Smythe Street in the 2013 redistribution, with half of the riding going to Fredericton South and half to Fredericton West-Hanwell. George Everett Chalmers
George Everett Chalmers (June 5, 1905 – April 26, 1993) was a medical doctor, surgeon and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented the ridings of York County, City of Fredericton and Fredericton South in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1963 to 1978 as a Progressive Conservative member. He was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, the son of George Wilson Chalmers and May Branch. Chalmers was educated at the University of New Brunswick and McGill University Faculty of Medicine, from which he graduated in 1933. He interned for 2 years at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, QC and 1 year at the Saint John General Hospital in Saint John, NB before moving to Fredericton, NB in 1936. During World War II he enlisted as a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps but was unable to serve abroad due to diabetes. Robert Andrew "Andy" Keith Scott, (March 16, 1955 – June 24, 2013) was a Liberal Member of Parliament representing the electoral district of Fredericton. He was a member the Cabinet of Canada, most recently serving as the eighteenth Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (2004–2006).
