Bucknell University Press is a university press associated with Bucknell University, located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The press was founded in 1968 and is currently a member of the Association of University Presses, to which it was admitted in 2016. Bucknell University Press was previously a member of the now-defunct Associated University Presses consortium. From 2010 to 2017, the press's publications were distributed by Rowman & Littlefield. Presently, the press operates in partnership with Rutgers University Press: While Bucknell University Press maintains editorial control over their own imprint, Rutgers pays for the cost of production. Bucknell University is a Private college, private Liberal arts colleges in the United States, liberal-arts college in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1846 as the University at Lewisburg, it now consists of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Freeman College of Management, and the College of Engineering. It offers 65 majors and 70 minors in the sciences and humanities. Located just south of Lewisburg, the campus rises above the West Branch Susquehanna River, West Branch of the Susquehanna River. The Association of University Presses (AUPresses) is an association of nonprofit, mostly, but not exclusively, North American university presses. It is based in New York City. Until December 2017, it was known as the Association of American University Presses (AAUP). In 2021, AUPresses became an affiliate member of the American Council of Learned Societies. AUPresses is also an affiliate member of the International Publishers Association. History The Association of University Presses was officially established in 1937. Associated University Presses (AUP) was a publishing company based in the United States, formed and operated as a consortium of several American university presses. AUP was established in 1966, with the first titles published through AUP appearing in 1968. There were five constituent members in the AUP consortium—Bucknell University Press, University of Delaware Press, Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, Lehigh University Press, and Susquehanna University Press.
