Brutus (Czech Band)
Brutus is a Czech rock band founded in 1967. They call their style "true bigbeat" (the Czech word '' bigbeat'' is different from the English use, and is more or less connected with 1960s rock and roll). History Brutus was established in 1967 under the name Mandragora in Rakovník. Its original members were Vlastimil Beneš, Libor Laun, Michal Pleska, Miloslav Černý, Zdeněk Havelka, Vladimír Lankaš, Václav Matějka, Ivan Mikšovic, Jindřich Průcha, Zdeněk Steidl, and Milan Tyburec. In 1973, their performances were banned by the Communist government and they started playing under the name Elektronik. The name was changed to Brutus in 1980 and there was a period (1982–1989) when they had to play as Kyklop. Since the Velvet Revolution in 1989, the band has again been called Brutus. Rakovník
Rakovník (, ) is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 16,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an urban monument zone. Administrative division Rakovník consists of two municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census): *Rakovník I (871) *Rakovník II (14,502) Etymology According to legend, the name was derived from ''rak'' (meaning 'crayfish'), which was eaten here during a famine. TV Smith
Timothy "T. V." Smith (born 5 April 1956) is an English singer-songwriter who was part of punk rock, punk band The Adverts in the late 1970s. Since then he has fronted other bands, as well as pursuing a solo career. Biography Smith and Gaye Advert, Gaye Black (a.k.a. Gaye Advert) moved from, respectively, Okehampton in mid-Devon, and Bideford, a small coastal town in Devon, to form The Adverts in London in 1976. The Adverts are best known for their 1977 hit single "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" and acclaimed 1978 debut album ''Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts''. Comeback (TV Series)
''Comeback'' is a Czech television sitcom that premiered on TV Nova on 4 September 2008. The first season was broadcast in 2008, and the second one came out in 2010. The series was then cancelled despite its popularity and plans for season 3. In August 2023, it was announced that the show would return for a third season, consisting of sixteen episodes. It will reportedly be filmed in 2024. Synopsis The sitcom revolves around Tomáš Pacovský, owner of a music store named U Dvou Akordů (At the Two Chords), and his family. His brother Ozzák (the name "Ozzák" is an allusion to an Ozzy Osbourne fan) is a chronic alcoholic who loves heavy metal music. The majority of jokes and gags are about his alcoholism and his absolute belief in metal music. The Vibrators
The Vibrators were a British punk rock band whose greatest success was in 1977–1978 with the albums ''Pure Mania'' and ''V2 (album), V2''. Their first Epic Records single "Baby Baby (The Vibrators song), Baby Baby" is considered a punk classic. A year later, their single "Automatic Lover" hit No. 35 on the UK charts. Career Early career The Vibrators were founded by Ian 'Knox (punk musician), Knox' Carnochan, bassist Pat Collier, guitarist John Ellis (guitarist), John Ellis, and drummer John 'Eddie' Edwards. They first came to public notice at the 100 Club when they backed Chris Spedding in 1976. On Spedding's recommendation, Mickie Most signed them to his label RAK Records. No Name is a Slovak rock band formed in Košice in 1996 by Viliam Gutray and three Timko brothers: Igor, Roman, and Ivan. Marián Čekovský joined as a keyboardist and was later replaced by Zoli Šallai. A few years later, the youngest Timko brother, Dušan, also became a member of the band. No Name became known to Slovak audiences by taking part in the Bratislavská lýra festival in 1997 History No Name was founded in 1996 in the Slovak city of Košice by the Timko brothers Igor, Roman, and Ivan, together with bass guitarist Viliam Gutray. Zóna A is a Slovak punk rock band formed in 1984 in Bratislava. The lead vocalist Peter "Koňýk" Schredl is the only co-founder who is still in the band. History The band was formed in 1984 by the lead vocalist Peter "Koňýk" Schredl and the guitarist "Leďo", former members of Paradox (a punk band established in 1980), drummer "Ozi", guitarist "Sveťo" (former members of Ex Tip, another punk band established in 1980) and with the bassist Braňo Alex. Susan Kay Quatro (born June 3, 1950) is an American singer, bass guitarist, songwriter, and actress. In the 1970s, she scored a string of singles that found success in Europe and Australia, with both "Can the Can" (1973) and "Devil Gate Drive" (1974) reaching number one in several countries. Quatro released her self-titled debut album in 1973. Since then, she has released 15 studio albums, 10 compilation albums, and one live album. U.K. Subs are an English punk rock band, among the earliest in the first wave of British punk. Formed in 1976, the mainstay of the band has been vocalist Charlie Harper, originally a singer in Britain's R&B scene.
