Bruneian International Certificate Of Identity
The Bruneian International Certificate of Identity (ICI) is an international travel document issued by the Immigration and National Registration Department to Bruneian permanent residents who are stateless. It is valid for five years. Eligibility The applicant for an ICI must possess: *Either a residence permit or an entry permit, and *Be Statelessness, stateless Use Holders of the International Certificate of Identity are not subject to the visa exemptions that holders of the Bruneian passport are. ICI holders can enter Germany, Hungary and Slovenia visa-free for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period. Statelessness
In international law, a stateless person is someone who is "not considered as a national by any state under the operation of its law". Some stateless people are also refugees. However, not all refugees are stateless, and many people who are stateless have never crossed an international border. At the end of 2022, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees published an estimation of 4.4 million people worldwide as either stateless or of undetermined nationality, 90,800 (+2%) more than at the end of 2021. However, the data itself is not complete because UNHCR does not have data from many countries, such as from at least 22 countries where mass statelessness exists. The data also does not include de facto stateless people who have no legal identification to prove their nationality or legal existence. Bruneian passports are issued to citizens of Brunei for the purpose of international travel. Validity The Bruneian passport is valid for a period of 5 years. To travel overseas, a passport must be valid for at least six months into the future. Biometric passport Since May 2008, all Bruneian passports contain biometric features. The Convention Relating to the Status of Stateless Persons is a 1954 United Nations multilateral treaty that aims to protect stateless individuals.
