''Brothers in Arms'' is a tactical shooter video game series by Gearbox Software, consisting of ten individual games. The core series consists of the first-person shooters ''Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30'' (2005), ''Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood'' (2005), and ''Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway'' (2008). The storyline is set against the backdrop of the liberation of Western Europe during World War II. It has mainly been released for Microsoft Windows, Windows and MacOS platforms as well as Sixth generation of video game consoles, sixth and Seventh generation of video game consoles, seventh generation consoles and some mobile devices. A tactical shooter is a subgenre of shooter games that cover both the first-person shooter and third-person shooter genres. These games aim to simulate realistic combat through slower-paced and punishing gameplay. GameRankings was a video gaming review aggregator that was founded in 1999 and owned by CBS Interactive. It indexed over 315,000 articles relating to more than 14,500 video games. GameRankings was discontinued in December 2019, with its staff being merged with the similar aggregator Metacritic. Rankings GameRankings collected and linked to (but did not host) reviews from other websites and magazines and averages specific ones. While hundreds of reviews may get listed, only the ones that GameRankings deemed notable were used for the average. Scores were culled from numerous American and European sources. The site used a percentage grade for all reviews in order to be able to calculate an average.
