British Ambassador To The European Union
The British Ambassador to the European Union is the United Kingdom's foremost diplomatic representative to the European Union, and head of the United Kingdom Mission to the European Union (UKMis). This role replaced that of Permanent Representative to the European Union (UKREP) when the United Kingdom left the European Union on 31 January 2020. The UK Mission to the EU is located in the same building as the British Embassy to Belgium at ''10 Avenue d’Auderghem'' in Brussels. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is the ministry of foreign affairs and a Departments of the Government of the United Kingdom, ministerial department of the government of the United Kingdom. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style (manner of address), style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office and is held only during tenure of that office. Sir Timothy Earle Barrow (born 15 February 1964) is a British diplomat who served as Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the European Union from 2017 to 2020 and as the British Ambassador to the European Union from 2020 to 2021. He served as National Security Adviser from 2022 to 2024. Barrow was appointed as Permanent Representative in January 2017 following the resignation of his predecessor, Ivan Rogers, and played an important role in the United Kingdom Brexit negotiations.
