British Academy Children's Award
The British Academy Children's Awards were presented in an annual award show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). They were awarded annually since 1996, before which time they were a part of the main British Academy Television Awards. Categories included those for television productions, feature films and video games. The final ceremony, the 25th British Academy Children's Awards, was held on 27 November 2022 at Old Billingsgate in London, and was hosted by television presenter Lindsey Russell. The ceremony marked the return of the awards after a three-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2023, BAFTA confirmed that the children's awards would be folded and incorporated into the annual film, games and television award ceremonies in 2025 with new categories introduced for children's content. British Academy Children's Award For Pre-School Animation
The British Academy Children and Young People Award for Preschool Animation is an award presented annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). It is given to "animated content for children under six". Through the nineties, preschool animated productions were awarded alongside live-action series in a category named Preschool. In 2000, two categories were created, one for each type of production (animation and live-action). The first recipient of the category was CITV's series ''Maisy''. CBeebies' series ''Hey Duggee'' holds the record of most wins in the category with four, followed by ''Peppa Pig'' with three, and ''Charlie and Lola'' and ''Timmy Time'' with two each. Shaun The Sheep
''Shaun the Sheep'' is a British stop-motion animated silent children's television series which is produced by Aardman Animations. A spin-off in the '' Wallace & Gromit'' franchise, the series focuses on the adventures of Shaun, the eponymous sheep previously starring in '' A Close Shave'' (1995), as the leader of his flock on an English farm. ''Lost and Found'' is a children's picture book by Oliver Jeffers, published in 2005. It won the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Gold Award and was the Blue Peter Book of the Year. ''The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers'' is an animated television series created by Dan Chambers, Mark Huckerby, and Nick Ostler, known collectively as The Pox. Starting off as online shorts for the CBBC website in 2002, it was eventually commissioned as a full series by CITV and Cartoon Network in the United Kingdom, S4C in Wales, YTV and VRAK.TV in Canada. Aunt Tiger
Aunt Tiger or Auntie Tigress () is a Taiwanese folktale with many variations. The story revolves around a tiger spirit on the mountain who turns into an old woman, abducts children at night and devours them to satisfy her appetite. It is often used to coax children to fall asleep quickly. The most well-known version was compiled by Taiwanese writer Wang Shilang, where the setting of the story is in a Hakka settlement in Taiwan. Legend A tiger spirit must eat a few children to become a human, so it descends from the mountains to find children to eat. After going down the mountain, it hides outside a house and eavesdropped, knowing that the mother is going out and there is only a pair of siblings in the house, so it turns into an aunt to trick the child into opening the door and entering the house. It was made by Cosgrove Hall, and consists of two series of thirteen 11-minute episodes each, made between 1999 and 2000. ''Famous Fred'' is a 1996 British animated short film written and directed by Joanna Quinn. It is based on the children's book ''Fred'' by Posy Simmonds. Plot Fred, the pet cat of young siblings Sophie and Nick, has recently died. Word gets around in the street and the children and adults remember Fred, who took every opportunity to sleep. Together with their parents, Sophie and Nick bury Fred in the courtyard and paint him a simple gravestone. At night, Sophie and Nick are woken by a noise outside their window.
