Brian M. Thomsen
Brian Michael Thomsen (April 13, 1959 – September 21, 2008) was an American science fiction editor, author, and anthologist. Biography Thomsen was raised in the New York City neighborhood of Rockaway Beach, Queens, Rockaway Beach and attended Regis High School (New York City), Regis High School in Manhattan. He was a founding editor of Warner Books' Questar Science Fiction line, in which position he was nominated for the 1988 Hugo Award for Best Professional Editor. In the mid-90s, Thomsen served as managing fiction editor at TSR, Inc. He also worked at one point as the publisher for TSR's Periodicals Department. He authored two Forgotten Realms tie-in novels, in 1995 and 1996. His tenure at TSR was controversial. In the 1980s, TSR had developed a reputation for underpaying its authors compared to the major fiction publishers in New York. Julius Schwartz
Julius "Julie" Schwartz (; June 19, 1915 – February 8, 2004) was a comic book editor, and a science fiction agent and prominent fan. He was born in The Bronx, New York. He is best known as a longtime editor at DC Comics, where at various times he was primary editor over the company's flagship superheroes, Superman and Batman. He was inducted into the comics industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1997. ISFDB
The Internet Speculative Fiction Database (ISFDB) is a database of bibliographic information on genres considered speculative fiction, including science fiction and related genres such as fantasy, alternate history, and horror fiction. The ISFDB is a volunteer effort, with the database being open for moderated editing and user contributions, and a wiki that allows the database editors to coordinate with each other. the site had catalogued 2,002,324 story titles from 232,816 authors. The code for the site has been used in books and tutorials as examples of database schema and organizing content. The ISFDB database and code are available under Creative Commons licensing. Amasa Delano
''Benito Cereno'' is a novella by Herman Melville, a fictionalized account about the revolt on a Spanish slave ship captained by Don Benito Cereno, first published in three installments in ''Putnam's Monthly'' in 1855. The tale, slightly revised, was included in his short story collection ''The Piazza Tales'' that appeared in May 1856. According to scholar Merton M. Sealts Jr., the story is "an oblique comment on those prevailing attitudes toward blacks and slavery in the United States that would ultimately precipitate civil war between North and South". The famous question of what had cast such a shadow upon Cereno was used by American author Ralph Ellison as an epigraph to his 1952 novel ''Invisible Man'', excluding Cereno's answer, "The negro." William B. Fawcett (born May 13, 1947) is an American editor, anthologist, game designer, book packager, fiction writer, and historian. Life Fawcett and fellow science fiction writer Jody Lynn Nye were married in 1987. They first met at a science fiction convention in 1985. At that time, Fawcett owned a gaming company in Niles, Illinois, and Nye began to work as a freelance writer for the company. Career Bill Fawcett was one of the players in early ''Dungeons & Dragons'' games being played in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas, using photocopied prototypes of the rules handed out by Gary Gygax.
