The Bren School of Environmental Science & Management is a graduate professional school at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The mission of the Bren School is to play a leading role in researching environmental issues, identifying and solving environmental problems, and training research scientists and environmental-management professionals. History In 1991, recognizing the need for a graduate school dedicated to the study of the environment, the Regents of the University of California established the School of Environmental Science & Management at UC Santa Barbara. The Bren gun was a series of light machine guns (LMG) made by Britain in the 1930s and used in various roles until 1992. While best known for its role as the British and Commonwealth forces' primary infantry LMG in World War II, it was also used in the Korean War and saw service throughout the latter half of the 20th century, including the 1982 Falklands War. Bren Hall, opened in April 2002, is located on the campus of University of California, Santa Barbara, located in Santa Barbara, California. It is named in honor of philanthropist Donald Bren and hosts the university's Bren School of Environmental Science & Management. The building has a view of Santa Barbara Channel and the Channel Islands.
