Bremen Zwei is a German public radio station owned and operated by Radio Bremen (RB). It broadcasts a culture and information-based format with a wide music selection, similar to Bayern 2. Unlike other ARD cultural stations, it does not air classical music. Bremen Zwei replaced Nordwestradio on 12 August 2017. Nordwestradio was a German, public radio station owned and co-operated by Radio Bremen (RB) and Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). It used to broadcast a culture and information-based format. The station's music was dominated by singer-songwriters, pop and soul outside of the mainstream. Nordwestradio also played classical music, rock, jazz and blues, especially in the evenings and at weekends. Nordwestradio replaced Radio Bremen 2 on 1 November 2001. ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional Public broadcasting, public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services—in particular the introduction of a joint television network. ARD has a budget of €6.9 billion, 22,612 employees and is the largest public broadcaster network in the world. The budget comes primarily from a mandatory licence fee which every household, company and public institution, regardless of television ownership, is required by law to pay. Bremen Vier (English: Bremen Four) is a radio station from Radio Bremen for the city of Bremen and Bremerhaven in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. It broadcasts a hot adult contemporary format dominated by pop music and has been operating since 1 December 1986. It is targeted at an audience aged 14 to 49.
