''Breaking Through'' is a 1990 Australian docudrama TV film about Cathy Ann Matthews (a pseudonym). It tells her story of how when in her 40s she started experiencing memories of being abused as a child. It is based on he book of the same name. Nick Enright
Nicholas Paul Enright AM (22 December 1950 – 30 March 2003) was an Australian dramatist, playwright and theatre director. Early life Enright was born on 22 December 1950 to a prosperous professional Catholic family in East Maitland, New South Wales. He was drama captain of St Ignatius' College, Riverview in Sydney in 1964, where, like Gerard Windsor and Justin Fleming, he was taught by Melvyn Morrow. At that school, he won the 1sts Debating Premiership in both 1966 and 1967. During 1971 and 1972 Enright was a member of Sydney's Genesian Theatre, performing in ''A Doll's House'' and ''Uncle Vanya'', and directing ''London Assurance''. Enright earned a BA from Sydney University in 1972. Career He worked as a gofer for Sydney's Nimrod Theatre before being appointed a trainee director at the Melbourne Theatre Company. Deidre Rubenstein
Deidre Rubenstein (born 1948) is a Jewish-Australian screen and theatre actress, dramatist and playwright, well known for her performance in Australian soap operas and main stage dramatic roles. Early life Rubenstein graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1967. Career Television and film Rubenstein has worked in television comedies, drama, mini-series and TV movies. In 1970 she appeared in an episode of ''Homicide''. She played a recurring guest role in ''Prisoner'' (1979–80), as terrorist Janet Dominguez. She had leading roles in 1990 film '' Breaking Through'' and 1985 miniseries '' Palace of Dreams'', the latter for which she won an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress. Tony Barry
Tony Barry (28 August 1941 – 21 December 2022) was an Australian actor and activist best known for his television and film roles. Personal life Barry was born in Ipswich, Queensland, on 28 August 1941. He had one son. Barry was an environmental and Indigenous rights activist and considered himself "an honorary Kiwi". Barry is the only Australian who was featured on a New Zealand postage stamp. He took part in political rallies and was a volunteer for rehabilitation programs for indigenous rights groups. He visited high schools where he would promote environmentalism. Health Barry was diagnosed with melanoma in the early 2000s. In 2014, between seasons of the television drama series '' The Time of Our Lives'', Barry had his left leg amputated above the knee due to the illness. The loss of his leg was written into the storyline. Due to this illness, he died on 21 December 2022, at age 81, in Murwillumbah, New South Wales. Alice Ansara is an Australian actress and dramaturg who works in film, television and theatre. Background Ansara is the daughter of documentary filmmaker, Martha Ansara and Master Builder Bill Ethell.
