Boys In A Band
Boys in a Band are an indie rock band from the Faroe Islands. Formed in 2006 in Gøta, the group comprises vocalist/guitarist Pætur Zachariasson, guitarist Heini, bassist Símun Sakaris, drummer The Rógvi, and Heri Schwartz on hammond organ. The band members claim to play ''Cowboy Rock''. They are the winners of Global Battle of the Bands (2007) (GBOB). History 2006 Boys in a Band formed in September 2006. The same year, they took part in the international music competition GBOB, earning second spot. Through 2006, they managed to become one of the most popular live acts in the Faroes, and despite never having released a record, this secured them a nomination in the annual ''Planet Awards'', a local Faroese award show, which is sponsored by the daily paper Sosialurin. Norðragøta
Norðragøta (), also just referred to as Gøta, is a village on Eysturoy island, Faroe Islands. Overview The municipality of Gøta (''Gøtu kommuna'') was a municipality until 1 January 2009 when it merged with Leirvík into Eysturkommuna. Gøta consists also of the villages Gøtueiði, Gøtugjógv and Syðrugøta. The village lies on Eysturoy's east coast at the bottom of the inlet Gøtuvík. There is a museum called ''Gøtu Fornminnisavn'' with the famous house ''Blásastova''. The wooden church in the centre of the village is from 1833. Gøta is a place of great importance in the history of the Faroe Islands. One of the key figures in the Icelandic saga, Færeyinga saga, called Tróndur í Gøtu (Old Norse: Þrǫ́ndr í Gǫtu) lived here. Sigur Rós () is an Icelandic post-rock band that formed in 1994 in Reykjavík. It comprises lead vocalist and guitarist Jónsi, Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. The Great Escape (festival)
The Great Escape was a music festival held at Newington Armory, located within Sydney Olympic Park that took place in 2006 and 2007. Initially held over the Easter long weekend for the first two events, in 2008 it was announced the festival would take place on the Labour Day weekend, however the event was cancelled 2 months from the date due to poor ticket sale It evolved from the 2005 Cockatoo island festival, Cockatoo Island Music Festival. The music and other attractions run over three full days (Good Friday to Easter Sunday in 2006–07), with some patrons camping from Thursday evening to Monday morning. Punters could attend either for the full weekend camping, purchase a 3-day pass and commute each day or attend a single day. SXSW
