Boulder Railway Station
Boulder railway station was part of the Boulder loopline, a railway that commenced at the Kalgoorlie railway station and travelled south for the purpose of transporting workers to the mines on the Golden Mile in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia. In its early days it was also known as the Boulder City Station. Pressure in the early 1900s was for the loopline to be developed, and it was operational by 1903. The loopline in its original form was closed in the 1950s, but the station building and portions of the original loopline remain. For a period prior to the expansion of the Kalgoorlie Super Pit gold mine the loopline railway was able to have operations on part of the original railway. Boulder, Western Australia
Boulder is a suburb of Kalgoorlie in the Western Australian Goldfields, east of Perth. The Boulder (horse) Races were a significant event in early twentieth century goldfields region history. The town maintained its separation from Kalgoorlie until the 1980s, however even prior to that era, many surveys and studies of the towns and their areas tended to join the names. Prior to 1989, Boulder was a town, but it was merged with Kalgoorlie to form the City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder. The population of Boulder in 1901 was 2,936 (1850 males and 1086 females), which increased to 5,658 (3090 males and 2568 females) in 1903. At the 2006 census, Boulder had a population of 5,178. This had decreased to 4,825 by the 2016 census. On 20 April 2010 Kalgoorlie-Boulder suffered a magnitude 5.0 earthquake which damaged several of the historic buildings in Boulder. Kalgoorlie To Gnumballa Lake Railway Line
The Kalgoorlie to Gnumballa Lake railway line was a set of state government-owned and WAGR-operated railway lines in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia. It connected Kalgoorlie to Lakeside, at Gnumballa Lake (now Hannan Lake or Hannan's Lake), as well as Boulder, through the Boulder Townsite Loop railway line and Brown Hill, through the Brown Hill Loop railway line. At Kalgoorlie, it connected to the Eastern Goldfields Railway. For a short duration in the 1920s, the railway line also continued on from Lakside to Brown Hill. Kalgoorlie Railway Station
Kalgoorlie railway station is the easternmost attended station in Western Australia, located at the eastern terminus of the Eastern Goldfields Railway. It serves the city of Kalgoorlie. Beyond Kalgoorlie, the line continues east as the Trans-Australian Railway. Kalgoorlie-Boulder (or just Kalgoorlie) is a city in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia, located east-northeast of Perth at the end of the Great Eastern Highway. It is referred to as Kalgoorlie–Boulder as the surrounding urban area includes the historic townsite of Boulder and the local government area is the City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder. Super Pit Gold Mine
The Fimiston Open Pit, colloquially known as the Super Pit, is an open-pit mine in Australia. It was Australia's largest open cut gold mine until 2016, when it was surpassed by the Newmont Boddington gold mine, also in Western Australia. The Super Pit is located off the Goldfields Highway on the south-east edge of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The pit is oblong in plan view and is approximately 3.5 kilometres long, 1.5 kilometres wide and over 600 metres deep. The Fimiston Open Pit is owned by Northern Star Resources.
