George Boole
George Boole (; 2 November 1815 – 8 December 1864) was a largely self-taught English mathematician, philosopher, and logician, most of whose short career was spent as the first professor of mathematics at Queen's College, Cork in Ireland. He worked in the fields of differential equations and algebraic logic, and is best known as the author of '' The Laws of Thought'' (1854) which contains Boolean algebra. Boolean logic is credited with laying the foundations for the Information Age. Early life Boole was born in 1815 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England, the son of John Boole senior (1779–1848), a shoemaker and Mary Ann Joyce. He had a primary school education, and received lessons from his father, but due to a serious decline in business, he had little further formal and academic teaching. Boole is an electronic hybrid act formed in 1996 by Brad Barkett and Mike Barkett at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. The band was formed as a foray into explorations of post-modern forms of popular dance music, in contrast to Brad Barkett's experimental music project formed in 1990, The Apologizers. The current live lineup consists of Brad Barkett and Mike Barkett on vocals and saxophones. Biography In 1996, Boole was formed by Brad Barkett (br0d) and Mike Barkett (The MAB) in Baltimore, Maryland, at Loyola College. Boole (crater)
Boole is a lunar impact crater that lies along the northwestern limb of the Moon, to the northwest of the crater Gerard. At this location it is viewed nearly from the side, and is very oblong in shape due to foreshortening. The crater formation is nearly circular, however, with a wide inner wall that has been worn and rounded due to subsequent impacts. It is named after George Boole. Boole (tree)
The Boole Tree is a giant sequoia in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, Fresno County, California. The Boole Tree is the eighth tallest sequoia in the world and is the largest in terms of base circumference at 112 feet. It is estimated to be more than 2,000 years old. The tree's stature is accentuated by its isolation above the Kings River where it towers over the rest of the forest. The Boole tree is the largest in the Converse Basin Grove, which is 5 miles (8 km) from the General Grant Grove in Kings Canyon National Park. Converse Basin used to be a large grove, but was logged of most of its giant sequoias between 1892 and 1918. Now only perhaps 60–100 large specimens survive out of thousands. Alicia Boole
Alicia Boole Stott (8 June 1860 – 17 December 1940) was an Irish mathematician. Despite never holding an academic position, she made a number of valuable contributions to the field, receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Groningen. She is best known for introducing the term " polytope" for a convex solid in four (or more) dimensions, and having an impressive grasp of four-dimensional geometry from a very early age. Early life Alicia Boole was born in Cork, Ireland, the third daughter and one of five siblings of English parents; mathematician and logician George Boole and Mary Everest Boole, a self-taught mathematician and educationalist. Oleksandr Bulich (born 21 March 1989), known by his stage name Sasha Boole, is a Ukrainian country and folk musician, singer and songwriter based in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Early years Bulich was born in Zhytomyr but raised in Chernivtsi. While studying in Chernivtsi University he learned to play guitar and started to write music and songs.
