Bolan's Zip Gun
''Bolan's Zip Gun'' is the tenth studio album by English rock band T. Rex, released in February 1975 by record label EMI. Eight of the eleven songs on the album had already been released in the US the previous year on the '' Light of Love'' album on Casablanca Records. Rex album that failed to chart in the UK. Background The critical and commercial failure of the ambitious ''Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow'' in early 1974 rattled Bolan, who suddenly became uncertain as to what would please the public. Paul Fenton (musician)
Paul Fenton (born 4 July 1946 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England) is an English drummer, best known for his work with T. Rex. After leaving Christie, he started playing drums for T. Rex in 1973, after being recommended to Marc Bolan by his producer Tony Visconti. Fenton also played in Carmen, a progressive rock band with a flamenco focus. The band released three albums between 1973 and 1975. Fenton along with Mickey Finn, formed a T. Rex tribute band in 1997, named Mickey Finn's T-Rex. Mickey Finn (percussionist)
Michael Norman Finn (3 June 1947 – 11 January 2003) was an English musician. He was best known as the percussionist and sideman to Marc Bolan in his band Tyrannosaurus Rex (on one album, '' A Beard of Stars'') and later the 1970s glam rock group T. Rex. After Bolan's death and T. Rex's demise, he worked as a session musician for The Blow Monkeys and The Soup Dragons. Career Finn was born in Thornton Heath, Surrey. After he joined Tyrannosaurus Rex in late 1969, it was rumoured that Bolan had hired Finn for his good looks, and because he admired his motorcycle, rather than for his musical ability. Finn was unable to recreate the complex rhythmical patterns of his predecessor, Steve Peregrin Took, and was effectively hired as much for a visual foil for Bolan as for his drumming. Antoine Caliste Domino Jr. (February 26, 1928 – October 24, 2017), known as Fats Domino, was an American singer-songwriter and pianist. One of the pioneers of rock and roll music, Domino sold more than 65 million records. Born in New Orleans to a French Creole family, Domino signed to Imperial Records in 1949. His first single " The Fat Man" is cited by some historians as the first rock and roll single and the first to sell more than 1 million copies. The track is taken from the album ''Bolan's Zip Gun'' whilst its B-side, "Explosive Mouth", features on the 1974 album ''Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow''. In the US, both songs appeared on the US only compilation album '' Light of Love''. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's Ken Barnes praised the single's "upbeat" and "economical" sound in a 1974 review, claiming Bolan's new output to be "fresh and attractive". "Light of Love" was produced by Marc Bolan; it was the first T. Rex single on which the production did not involve Tony Visconti.
