Boccia
Boccia ( ) is a precision ball sport, similar to bocce, and related to bowls and pétanque. The name "boccia" is derived from the Latin word for "boss" – '. The sport is contested at local, national and international levels, by athletes with severe physical disabilities. It was originally designed to be played by people with cerebral palsy but now includes athletes with other severe disabilities affecting motor skills. In 1984, it became a Paralympic sport and as of 2020, 75 boccia national organizations have joined one or more of the international organizations. Boccia is governed by the Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed) and is one of only two Paralympic sports (along with goalball) that have no counterpart in the Olympic program. 2015 ASEAN Para Games
The 2015 ASEAN Para Games, officially known as the 8th ASEAN Para Games, and commonly known as Singapore 2015, was a Southeast Asian disabled multi-sport event held from 3 to 9 December 2015 in the city-state of Singapore. Unlike the previous editions the games were held six months after the closing of the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. This was Singapore's first time as host of the ASEAN Para Games. Around 1811 athletes participated at the Games, which featured 336 events in 15 sports. Singapore is the seventh nation to host the event after Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar. It was opened by Tony Tan Keng Yam, the President of Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The final medal tally was led by Thailand, followed by Indonesia and Malaysia with host Singapore in fifth place.
