Black Mountain, also known as Galambary to the Ngunnawal people, is a small mountain with an elevation of that is situated to the west of the Canberra central business district on the northern shore of Lake Burley Griffin, in the Australian Capital Territory of Australia. Black Mountain is protected from development by the Canberra Nature Park and is predominantly covered in native bushland and is a haven to native wildlife. Black Mountain is located in north-central Maricopa County, Arizona, between the towns of Carefree, Arizona, Carefree and Cave Creek, Arizona, Cave Creek. Geology The mountain is composed of two main rock types that are roughly divided between western and eastern halves of the mountain. The west side of the mountain is composed of a ~250 m. bed of meta-sedimentary rock distinguishable as phyllite and argillite. From a distance, the meta-sedimentary rock is easily mistaken for basalt, which is common in the area, however basalt is not found on Black Mountain. The phyllite has a slaty cleavage and is foliated in all directions, a result of shortening due to pressure-solution volume-diffusion of as much as 50%. The Little Ajo Mountains is a mountain range in southern Arizona, in extreme western Pima County, Arizona. The city of Ajo sits on the northeast of this small mountain range. Black Mountain is a prominent, mountain summit located in the Alsek Ranges of the Saint Elias Mountains in southeast Alaska. The mountain is situated in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, northwest of Juneau, between the Riggs and McBride glaciers. The Black Mountain () is a mountain range in South, Mid and West Wales, straddling the county boundary between Carmarthenshire and Powys, and forming the westernmost range of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Its highest point is Fan Brycheiniog at 802 metres or 2,631 ft. The Black Mountain also forms a part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark. Name The Black Mountain should not be confused with the Black Mountains in the east of the National Park, nor with a summit in the Black Mountains that is confusingly also called Black Mountain. The Black Mountain (), is a mountain in the Black Mountains. It is the only Marilyn to fall exactly on the Welsh– English border, Powys and Herefordshire. Its parent peak, Waun Fach, lies to the west. Access The Black Mountain is the highest point on Hatterrall Ridge. Offa's Dyke Path passes along the ridge, more or less from south to north. A steeper path leads to the summit from near the former youth hostel in the Vale of Ewyas to the west. The summit is unmarked and, because of the very shallow gradients along the summit ridge, virtually impossible to determine ''in situ''.
