Black Market Activities (BMA) is an American independent record label that was founded in 2003 by Guy Kozowyk, the frontman of the Boston, Massachusetts-based extreme metal band the Red Chord. History Black Market Activities was started with the stated goal of releasing records by bands that are pushing the boundaries of extreme music while keeping a friendly artist-centered attitude that steers clear of a lot of the "major label" business-like dealings that tend to hurt and exploit bands. The founder of the label being an extreme musician himself, he can more easily relate to the issues that are important to the bands on the label, and attempts to balance the business and art aspects of the music world. The Red Chord is an American extreme metal band from Revere, Massachusetts, formed in 1999. The group comprises vocalist Guy Kozowyk, guitarist/vocalist Mike "Gunface" McKenzie, bassist Greg Weeks and drummer Jon Rice. The band gained a fanbase with its 2002 debut album ''Fused Together in Revolving Doors''. Engineer (band)
Engineer is an American sludge metal band from Syracuse, New York. Featuring the brothers Bob, Brad, and Ryan Gorham, as well as the drummer Mike AuClair, the band released their debut EP Suffocation of the Artisan' in 2004 on Four Leaf Recordings. In 2005 they teamed up with Hex Records for a split release with labelmates Achilles. After touring the East Coast, and meeting Mike Hill (Anodyne) who ran Black Box Recordings, they released split 7"with McCarthy Blacklist. Their follow-up record, ''Reproach'', was released in January 2006 on Hex records. Signing to Black Market Activities in 2007, the band released ''The Dregs'' and ''Crooked Voices'' in 2007 and 2011, respectively. Born From Pain
Born from Pain is a Dutch hardcore band from the Oostelijke Mijnstreek (as a part of the infamous M.O.C.) that formed in 1997. Since they formed, they have achieved fame through energetic shows and grew out to become the international band they are today. They have toured Europe, the United States, Mexico and Japan. They have shared stages with bands such as Hatebreed, Madball, Zero Mentality, Six Feet Under, Soulfly, Agnostic Front and Slayer. In March 2007, longtime frontman Che left the band for personal reasons. He was temporarily replaced by Carl Schwartz, frontman of First Blood, and Scott Vogel from Terror. The band later found a full-time vocalist in Kevin Otto of German deathcore band End of Days. Beyond The Sixth Seal
Beyond the Sixth Seal is a side-project band of Mike McKenzie and Greg Weeks of The Red Chord. They were formed as a thrash metal band in the suburbs of Boston in 1998 and released a few demos. In the summer of 2000, bassist Adam Wentworth (The Red Chord) joined up with BTSS to record their debut EP ''A Homicide Divine'' in early 2001. After a European tour and a series of shows in the United States, writing for the full length began. ''Earth And Sphere'' was written during a major line-up change, as Adam moved to guitar and the band saw the exit of Rob Devlin (guitar) and Lawrence Kwong (vocals). Beyond the Sixth Seal continued the album writing process while searching for suitable replacements. Backstabbers Incorporated (sometimes called Backstabbers Inc. or BSI, and previously known as Life Passed On) were an United States, American hardcore punk, hardcore band based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. History Backstabbers Incorporated was formed as Life Passed On in the late nineties by Matt Serven (guitar) and Ryan McKenney (vocals).
