Bitch and Animal, a duo consisting of musicians Bitch (performer), Bitch and Animal Prufrock, was a queercore band that performed from 1995 to 2004. They became established while touring as an opening act for Ani DiFranco, and later launched their own highly successful tours. Their first album, ''What's That Smell'', was self-produced and featured some of their best-known songs, such as "Drag King Bar" and (on a hidden track) "Pussy Manifesto". Their next two albums were released under the record label Righteous Babe. ''Eternally Hard'', released in 2001, was co-produced by Ani DiFranco and Wayne Schrengohst and featured "Best Cock on the Block" and "Traffic". Bitch (performer)
Bitch (born Karen Mould; March 30, 1973), also known as Capital B, is an American musician, actress, composer, and performance artist. Best known for her work in Bitch and Animal, John Cameron Mitchell's ''Shortbus'', her work with Canadian folk musician Ferron, and her new project BEACH. Bitch sings and plays numerous instruments, including the ukulele, bass guitar, violin, and keytar—the artist has described her music as "electric violin poet rock". Bitch and Animal 1996–2004 Bitch and Animal recorded their first album, ''What's That Smell?'' in Seattle, with Kate Wolf (Julie Wolf's twin sister) in the months leading up to the Amherst show. Diane DiMassa (born 1959) is an American feminist artist, noted as creator of the alternative cartoon character Hothead Paisan, Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist, whose wild antics have been described as rage therapy for the marginalised. DiMassa is also active in oil painting and street art. Hothead Paisan ''Hothead Paisan'' made its debut in 1991, and was initially published four times a year by Giant Ass Publishing (Stacy Sheehan and Diane DiMassa). The series was part of an underground 'zine explosion which happened in the early 1990s, and instantly snared a loyal cult following. Queercore Groups
Queercore (or homocore) is a cultural/social movement that began in the mid-1980s as an offshoot of the punk subculture and a music genre that comes from punk rock. It is distinguished by its discontent with society in general, and specifically society's disapproval of the LGBTQ community. Queercore expresses itself in a DIY style through magazines, music, writing and film. Ferron Foisy (born Deborah Foisy on 1 June 1952; known professionally as Ferron) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and poet. In addition to gaining fame as one of Canada's most respected songwriters, Ferron, who is openly lesbian, became one of the earliest and most influential lyrical songwriters of the women's music circuit, and an important influence on later musicians such as Ani DiFranco, Mary Gauthier and the Indigo Girls.
