"Birthday" is the debut single by Canadian-Dutch-Korean singer-songwriter Jeon Somi. The song was released by The Black Label on June 13, 2019. Background and release On November 21, 2018, News1 reported that Somi was working on new music with the goal of making her solo debut in March 2019. On February 23, 2019, it was reported that the debut date would be May and that she will be debuting with a song produced by Teddy, also confirming that the recording process was completed and was currently preparing to shoot the accompanying music video. It wasn't confirmed if the release will be a single or an EP. Shortly after, The Black Label confirmed that Somi will debut in May and that the song produced by Teddy was finished, but the format of the release was not confirmed. Ennik Somi Douma (born March 9, 2001), known professionally by her Korean name Jeon Somi (), is a South Korean and Canadian singer signed under The Black Label. Born in Canada to a South Korean mother and a Dutch-Canadian father, she moved to South Korea as an infant.
