Vrba–Wetzler Report
The Vrba–Wetzler report is one of three documents that comprise what is known as the '' Auschwitz Protocols'', otherwise known as the Auschwitz Report or the Auschwitz notebook. It is a 33-page eye-witness account of the Auschwitz concentration camp in German-occupied Poland during the Holocaust. Rudolf Vrba and Alfréd Wetzler, two Slovak Jews who escaped from Auschwitz on 10 April 1944, wrote the report by hand or dictated it, in Slovak, between 25 and 27 April, in Žilina, Slovakia. Oscar Krasniansky of the Slovak Jewish Council typed up the report and simultaneously translated it into German. The Allies had known since November 1942 that Jews were being killed ''en masse'' in Auschwitz. The Vrba–Wetzler report was an early attempt to estimate the numbers and the most detailed description of the gas chambers to that point. The village is on the south and east shore of White Bear Lake. History Birchwood first developed as a community of summer recreation cottages built by residents of the Saint Paul area in early 20th-century. Initial subdivisions were along the lakeshore, and this area is now characterized by a potpourri of old homes that have been extensively remodeled, and new homes where the original structure has been demolished. The newer subdivisions away from the lake have larger lots and are more homogeneous in appearance but have retained the flavor of the village by preserving the natural features of the area. History Knapp, Stout & Company Knapp, Stout & Co., Knapp, Stout and Company was a logging company in Northern Wisconsin. Founded in 1846 William Willson brought the company together. The company was originally owned by; William Wilson, Andrew Tainter, John Knapp, and Henry Stout. Knapp, Stout and Co. became the largest lumber company in the world. In 1873 they owned 115,000 acres of pine forests. They put out 55,000,000 ft. of lumber, 20,000,000 shingles, and 20,000,000 lath annually. The company owned six big farms with six, or seven thousand acres of improved land to supply the lumber camps with pork and wheat. Birchwood is a log house reconstructed in 1936 using logs from an earlier structure built in about 1836. It is located in Arlington County, Virginia, Arlington County, Virginia. The first log house on the site was an even earlier structure built by Caleb Birch in approximately 1810 that burned down. Richard Wallace, valet to Rear Admiral Presley Marion Rixey, Presley M.
