William Kay J.P. (4 July 1829 – 27 March 1889) was a businessman and politician in the early days of the colony of South Australia. Biography William Kay J.P. (ca.1830 – 27 March 1889), was born in Newcastle on Tyne, where his father was part owner of an iron works. He emigrated to Australia, arriving in Adelaide on the ''Sea Queen'' on 25 March 1850. For some years he was in the office of George Green, for whom he acted as gold buyer, then took up a farm in Woodside, South Australia, Woodside, followed by a stint with the firm of Sampson, Wicksteed, & Co., auctioneers, before helping establish the firm of Townsend, Botting & Kay with William Townsend (mayor), William Townsend, M.P. and F. Sir William Algernon Ireland Kay, 6th Baronet
Brigadier-General Sir William Algernon Ireland Kay, 6th Baronet, CMG, DSO (21 March 1876 – 4 October 1918) was a British Army officer. He was killed in action in October 1918 in Magny-la-Fosse, while reconnoitering a new area. At the time, he was in command of the 3rd Brigade. Early life Kay was born in 1876, the only son of Sir William Kay, Bart. and his wife, Emily, daughter of Thomas Ireland, of Ousden Hall, Suffolk. He was educated at Harrow School between 1890–1891 and subsequently, at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst in 1895. Military service Kay commissioned into the King's Royal Rifle Corps in 1896 and subsequently served in the Hut Tax War of 1898 in Sierra Leone and the Second Boer War, being Mentioned in Dispatches during the latter campaign. William Kay (1820–1886) was an English cleric and academic, known as a college head and biblical scholar. Life The youngest of nine children of Thomas and Ann Kay of Knaresborough, he was born on the 8th of April 1820, at Pickering, North Yorkshire. He passed two years at Giggleswick school, and, together with James Fraser, gained an open scholarship at Lincoln College, Oxford, on 15 March 1836. He graduated in 1839 with a first class in classics and a second in mathematics. He was elected as a fellow of his college 22 October 1840, and in 1842 and was appointed one of the tutors, proceeded M.A., and was elected Pusey and Ellerton Hebrew scholar. William Kay is a British financial and business journalist. Family and education William Kay grew up in central London where he attended St Marylebone School and Westminster City School. In 1965 he was awarded an Open Styring Scholarship to read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at The Queen's College, Oxford. In 1968 he received a BA (Hons) and subsequently a MA. He attended UCLA's Professional Screenwriting course in 2014-15, and its Advanced Screenwriting course in 2017.
