Bill Weston (rugby Union)
William Henry Weston (21 December 1904 – 5 January 1987) was an English international rugby union player. Biography Born in Potterspury, Northamptonshire, Weston was the son of farmer Harry Weston, an ex-England forward. He attended Oakham School and at age 18 made his debut for Northampton, where he spent his entire career. Weston was capped 16 times for England during the 1930s as a blind-side wing-forward, which included the 1934 and 1937 Home Nations triple crowns, as well as a historic maiden win over the All Blacks on home soil in 1936. He toured Argentina with the 1936 British Lions and appeared in all but one of the fixtures. Potterspury
Potterspury is a populous village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, England. The nearest main town is Milton Keynes, the centre of which is about 7 miles south-east. At the time of the 2011 census, the parish's population (including Furtho) was 1,453 people. The village's name is a concatenation. It was originally cognate with Perry and sometimes written as such, implying pear tree or orchard. Several places are named such regionally. The helpful (disambiguatory) prefix 'Potters', seen by the 15th century, is a nod to the very old, important potteries here. An alternative is "Estpury", seen in 1452. As of 26 June 2017, 835 players have made an appearance for the British and Irish Lions, a rugby union team selected from players eligible for any of the Home Nations – the national sides of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Lions generally select international players, but they can pick uncapped players available to any one of the four unions. Despite the Lions team name only being used officially since 1950, tours since 1910 by combined teams have been undertaken with the support of the four home unions, and these along with other tours since 1888 by combined teams have been recognised retrospectively as Lions tours.
