William Sanford Nye (born November 27, 1955), popularly known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, is an American mechanical engineer, science communicator, and television presenter. He is best known as the host of the science television show ''Bill Nye the Science Guy'' (1993–1999) and the Netflix show ''Bill Nye Saves the World'' (2017–2018), and for his many appearances in popular media as a science educator. Born in Washington, D.C., Nye began his career as a mechanical engineer for Boeing in Seattle, where he invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube used on 747 airplanes. In 1986, he left Boeing to pursue comedy—writing and performing for the local sketch television show ''Almost Live!'', where he regularly conducted wacky science experiments. Aspiring to become the next Mr. Wizard, Nye successfully pitched the children's television program ''Bill Nye the Science Guy'' to Seattle's public television station, KCTS-TV. Edgar Wilson Nye
Edgar Wilson "Bill" Nye (August 25, 1850February 22, 1896) was an American humorist. He was also the founder and editor of the ''Laramie Boomerang''. Biography Nye was born in Shirley, Maine. His parents removed to a farm on the St. Croix river in northern Wisconsin in 1852, and he was educated at River Falls, Wisconsin, where he studied law. He moved to Wyoming Territory, and was admitted to the bar at Laramie City, Wyoming Territory in 1876. There he served as justice of the peace, superintendent of schools, member of the city council and postmaster. He began early to contribute humorous sketches to the newspapers, using the pen name of "Bill Nye" after a character in a famous poem by Bret Harte popularly known as "The Heathen Chinee". "The Heathen Chinee", originally published as "Plain Language from Truthful James", is a narrative poem by American writer Bret Harte. William Francis Nighy (; born 12 December 1949) is an English actor. Nighy started his career with the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool and made his London debut with the Royal National Theatre starting with '' The Illuminatus!'' in 1977. There he gained acclaim for his roles in David Hare's ''Pravda'' in 1985, Harold Pinter's '' Betrayal'' in 1991, Tom Stoppard's '' Arcadia'' in 1993, and Anton Chekov's ''The Seagull'' in 1994. He received a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor nomination for his performance in ''Blue/Orange'' in 2001.
