William Dawes Miller
William Dawes Miller ( 1918 – April 9, 1993) was an American engineer. He was also a director of the Pioneer Fund and President of the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan. He graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology. Miller was an engineer and operations officer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the United States Atomic Energy Commission (Manhattan Project). Later he was chief engineer at Continental Copper & Steel on the Texas Towers radar project. He went on to be President and CEO of Consolidated Aluminum, and later a senior vice president at The Anaconda Company. He died of a heart attack in Palm Beach, Florida. William Ernest Miller (February 3, 1908 – April 12, 1976) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and previously was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. William Miller (March 16, 1821 – February 21, 1901) was a banker and politician from South Bend, Indiana. He served as Mayor of South Bend from 1872 to 1876 and was on the city council. Early life William Miller was born on March 16, 1821, in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, to Henry Miller. His father was a farmer. Miller worked as a clerk in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Miller and his family moved to South Bend, Indiana, in August 1837. He attended the Bowman School, a log school house. His family lived at Stull Place in South Bend. His brother was H. B. William Miller (April 1, 1809 – May 2, 1879) was a politician and farmer from Indiana. He served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 1844 to 1850. Early life William Miller was born on April 1, 1809, in Franklin County, Virginia, to Sarah and Tobias Miller. When he was one year old, Miller moved with his family to Union County, Indiana. William Miller (North Carolina Politician)
William Miller (September 10, 1825) was the 18th Governor of the U.S. state of North Carolina from 1814 to 1817. Born in Warren County, North Carolina, William Miller was orphaned at the age of 9 and inherited a substantial plantation. He briefly attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1802, but did not complete a degree. He began practicing law in 1805 and was named North Carolina Attorney General in 1810. That same year, he was elected to the North Carolina House of Commons, where he served until 1814, for two years as Speaker of the House (1812–1814). In November 1814, Miller was elected Governor of North Carolina by the General Assembly, at the close of the War of 1812, which he supported.
