Bill Champion (racing Driver)
Bill Champion (October 16, 1921 – May 20, 1991) was an American stock car racing driver who competed in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series from 1951 to 1976. He was the uncle of Ricky Rudd; a retired NASCAR Cup Series driver. When he was not racing on the NASCAR circuit, Champion had a shop in Newport News, Virginia. Bill's most iconic ride of his NASCAR career was driving the 1969 Ford Torino. The 1971 Georgia 500 was a NASCAR NASCAR Cup Series, Winston Cup Series racing event that occurred on November 7, 1971, at Middle Georgia Raceway in Byron, Georgia, United States. The race car drivers still had to commute to the races using the same stock cars that competed in a typical weekend's race through a policy of homologation (motorsport), homologation (and under their own power). This policy was in effect until roughly 1975. By 1980, NASCAR had completely stopped tracking the year model of all the vehicles and most teams did not take stock cars to the track under their own power anymore. The 1971 Kingsport 300 was a NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing event that took place on May 23, 1971, at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, Tennessee. Arden Mounts
Enoch Arden Mounts (July 9, 1917 – March 4, 2003) was an American NASCAR Grand National Series driver from Gilbert, Mingo County, West Virginia. His primary vehicle was the #18 self-owned Pontiac machine; although he would occasionally drive a Hudson vehicle on the race track. Career He raced in the NASCAR Grand National Series from 1953 to 1956. Like J.D.
