Bilara Tehsil
Bilara Tehsil is a tehsil in Jodhpur District of Rajasthan state in western India. The tehsil headquarters are in the town of Bilara. Geography Bilara tehsil is the southeasternmost of the eleven tehsils in Jodhpur District. It borders Bhopalgarh tehsil to the north, Nagaur District to the northeast, Pali District to the east and south, and Luni tehsil and Mandor tehsil to the west. History Bilara tehsil was part of the SOHU princely state of Marwar. Economy The economy of the tehsil is mainly based on agriculture and related businesses. Demographics In the 2001 census, the Bilara tehsil had 251,946 inhabitants, with 130,451 males (51.8%) and 121,495 females (48.2%), for a gender ratio of 931 females per thousand males. In 2001, the tehsil was 71.7% rural. Jodhpur Gramin district (translated as: Jodhpur Rural) was a List of districts of Rajasthan, district in Rajasthan state of India. This district was formed in 7 August 2023. Pali District
Pali district is a district in Rajasthan, India. The city of Pali is its administrative headquarters. Pali is also known as the Industrial/Textile City and has been a hub for merchant activities for centuries. It has a rich heritage and culture, including beautiful Jain temples and other elaborate monuments. History In 120 AD, during the Kushana Age, King Kanishka conquered the Rohat and Jaitaran areas, parts of today's Pali district. Borunda
Borunda is a town in Bilada tahsil of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan. It is famous as the home of the Rupayan Sansthan and its founder Vijaydan Detha, well known writer and folklorist. Marwari People
The Marwari or Marwadi (Devanagari: मारवाड़ी) are an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group that originate from the Marwar region of Rajasthan, India. Their language, also called Marwari, comes under the umbrella of Rajasthani languages, which is part of the Western Zone of Indo-Aryan languages. Apart from India, they have sizeable presence in the neighbouring countries of Pakistan and Nepal. Etymology The term ''Marwari'' once referred to the area encompassed by the former princely state of Marwar, also called the Jodhpur region of southwest Rajasthan in India. It formed from the two constituent words, Maru (region of Thar desert) and Wadi (enclosure), effectively indicating the western part of modern day Rajasthan. Marwar (also called Jodhpur region) is a region of western Rajasthan state in North Western India. It lies partly in the Thar Desert. 'Maru' is a Sanskrit word for desert. The word 'wad' literally means fence in Rajasthani languages. English translation of the word 'Marwar' can be 'the region protected by desert'.
