Big Brother (franchise)
''Big Brother'' is a Dutch reality competition television franchise created by John de Mol Jr., first broadcast in the Netherlands in 1999, and subsequently syndicated internationally. The show features contestants called "housemates" or "HouseGuests" who live together in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. The name is inspired by Big Brother from George Orwell's novel ''Nineteen Eighty-Four'', and the housemates are continuously monitored during their stay in the house by live television cameras as well as personal audio microphones. ''Big Brother Україна'' is a Ukrainian version of the ''Big Brother'' reality television show based on the Dutch television series of the same name originally created in 1997 by John de Mol's company Endemol. The show is based on a group of strangers, known as Housemates, living together twenty-four hours a day in the "Big Brother" house, isolated from the outside world but under constant surveillance with no privacy for five months more. The housemates compete by avoiding weekly eviction until the last housemates remain at the end of the season that can claim the grand prize. The show hosted by television personality Olha Horbachova and Oleksiy Kurban and broadcast on K1. Secret Story (French Season 1)
''Secret Story 2007'' was the first edition of the French version of the reality show Big Brother carrying on from the previous similar show, Loft Story. It aired on TF1 and was presented by Benjamin Castaldi who had that role Loft Story. The series started on 23 June 2007, when 15 people entered a purpose-built house on the outskirts of Paris, France. Principle The principle is similar to that of Loft Story. The contestants are kept locked away for 10 weeks in a house, called ''"La Maison des Secrets"'' (the House of Secrets) measuring 1600 m² styled on the UK Big Brother 8 house including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, a lounge (where the bath is), bathroom with showers, and separate bathrooms for each sex. Loft Story (Canadian TV Series)
''Loft Story'' is a Quebec television series broadcast on the TQS television network, and was an adaptation of the show ''Loft Story'' in France, which itself was an adaptation of the ''Big Brother'' franchise. TQS became V and replaced ''Loft Story'' with a new ''Big Brother'' series for Quebec in 2010. During the first season (2003), the show had TVA's '' Occupation Double'' as its main competitor, and was a success in terms of viewership, but was not as financially successful as the French version. Therefore, the program was discontinued the following season but was resurrected three years later in January 2006. In response to criticism of year 1, year 2 toned down the sexual content and replaced it with daily games and truth/dare events.
