Oberhof, Germany
Oberhof is a town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen Districts of Germany, district of Thuringia, Germany. Located in the Thuringian Forest mountain range, it is a winter sports center and destination spa, health resort. With 1,625 inhabitants (December 2016), it is visited by 144,000 tourists every year (2016). The town obtained its official city status in 1985. History Oberhof was first mentioned in a document in 1470. The village in the Black Forest department belonged to various Ernestine duchies, most recently to the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1826 to 1918. In 1830, Ernest I, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha had a hunting lodge built. In 1861 the first vacation guests came to the village. With the completion of the Brandleite Tunnel of the Neudietendorf-Ritschenhausen railway, Oberhof received a railroad connection in 1884, which enabled the expansion of tourism. Tomáš Mikyska
Tomáš Mikyska (born 2 February 2000) is a Czech biathlete. He made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in 2020. Career He made his first international appearance on 4 February 2017 in Nové Město na Moravě, where he finished 36th in the sprint at the IBU Junior Cup. At the Youth World Championships held a year later in Otepää, he won the silver medal in the relay. He competed four more times at events in this series, including winning a bronze medal in the relay at the 2021 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Obertilliach. He made his World Cup competition debut on 29 November 2020 in Kontiolahti, finishing 60th in the sprint. He scored his first World Cup points two years later at the same venue, when he finished 32nd in the pursuit race. His best individual result is 10th place in the individual race at the 2024 World Championships in Nové Město na Moravě. Florent Claude
Florent Claude (born 11 November 1991) is a French-born Belgian biathlete. Biography Florent Claude is originally a French biathlete, born in Remiremont, in the Vosges, in 1991. He has a Master in physical training from the Université Grenoble Alpes. Due to a lack of chances to compete at the highest biathlon level in France, he relocated to Belgium, where he formed a team with Michael Rösch, another naturalized experienced biathlete (Olympic gold medal in the relay in 2006 with Germany). In June 2017 Claude acquired the Belgian nationality. His brothers Fabien Claude and Emilien Claude are also biathletes and compete for France. In 2018, Claude competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Michael Rösch as the first Belgian Olympic biathletes ever. Dmitrii Shamaev (born 30 June 1995) is a Russian-born Romanian biathlete. He has competed in the Biathlon World Cup since 2021. Career Dmitrii Shamaev started his international career at the 2014 World Youth Championships in Presque Isle, and immediately won his first individual medals in sprint and pursuit, behind Sean Doherty and Marco Groß. He was also victorious with the youth relay team of Yaroslav Kostyukov and Viktor Plitsev. The following year, the Russian competed in the junior events at the 2015 European Championships and again won gold in the mixed relay, narrowly missing out on a medal in the individual event.
