Bhumana Karunakar Reddy
Bhumana Karunakar Reddy (born 5 April 1958) is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He is an MLA from Tirupati Assembly constituency in the erstwhile Chittoor district which is presently renamed as Tirupati district. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election representing the YSR Congress Party. Early life and education Reddy was born in Padmavathipuram, Tirupati mandal, Chittoor district to late Bhumana Jayaram Reddy. He completed BA from S.V. University, Tirupati, in 1980. Later, he did his M.A. He runs his own Business. His son Bhumana Abhinay Reddy was elected as deputy mayor of Tirupati in July 2021. Career Reddy began his political career with the Indian National Congress in 2004. He served as the chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority from 2004 to 2006. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP; ) is an Indian regional political party primarily active in the Federated state, states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 2012 Andhra Pradesh By-elections
Background Andhra Pradesh entered a turbulent era in politics starting from 2009 with the movement for a separate Telangana gathering steam and the death of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash. Due to differences with the ruling INC, Reddy's son, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, then broke away to form the YSRCP and was joined by several MLAs.
