Bheramara Municipality
Bheramara Municipality is the administrative capital of Bheramara Upazila. It has nine wars and 15 mahalas covering 3.26 square kilometer. It has a population of 22,124. On 2 March 2007, Bheramara Municipality mayor and brother of member of parliament Shahidul Islam, Touhidul Isam Alam, was detained as part of a crackdown on corruption. Seven cases were filed against the mayor. During Bheramara Municipality elections in 2021, SM Tanvir Arafat, superintendent of police of Kushtia District, misbehaved with Judicial Magistrate Mohsin Hasan for which he was summoned by Bangladesh High Court. Hasan had filed a complaint against Arafat over the incident alleging violation of the Local Government Election Rules, 2010. The District police briefly detained Presiding Officer Shahjahan Ali who was a witness to the incident. Bheramara Upazila
Bheramara () is an upazila of Kushtia District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh. The upazila lies along the Padma River, and the important Hardinge Bridge crosses the river between Bheramara Upazila and Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna District. Geography Bheramara is located at . It has 47586 households and total area 153.71 km2. Bheramara sub-district is located within Kushtia district, Bangladesh and falls roughly within 23° 40′ – 24° 10′ N and 88° 45′ – 89° 20′ E. The town of Bheramara has an area of 3.26 km2 and a population of 20,676. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people, and the major crops are paddy, wheat, mustard, sweet potato, sunflower, onion, garlic, betel leaf, tobacco, and sugarcane. Shahidul Islam (academic)
Shahidul Islam is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a two term member of parliament for Kushtia-2 from 1996 to 2006. He was known for filing cases and attacking journalists in Kushtia District. Career In 1981/6, Islam was removed from Bheramara College as lecturer after an investigation by the Deputy Commissioner found his high school certificate to be forged. In the 1980s, he joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. In 1991, he tried to get the Bangladesh Nationalist Party nomination for Kushtia-2 but failed. He got his wife, Selina Shahid, elected to parliament from a Bangladesh Nationalist Party women's reserved seat. Islam was elected to parliament from Kushtia-2 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the February 1996 Bangladeshi general election which was boycotted by all other political parties. Khizir Hayat
Justice Khizir Hayat Lizu was a justice of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Early life Khizir Hayat Lizu was born on 24 January 1967 in Gopalgonj. His mother was a housewife. His father fought in the Bangladesh Liberation War and was martyred . He was then only 4 year old when he lost his father. He completed bachelor's and master's degrees in political science at the University of Dhaka. He also completed his bachelor's degree in law, masters in philosophy, and PhD from the University of Dhaka. Career Hayat started his practice on 6 August 1997 at the Dhaka District Court. On 9 February 2001, Hayat started practicing at the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Hayat was appointed an additional judge of the High Court Division on 31 May 2018. Mamnoon Rahman
Mamnoon Rahman (born 9 December 1965) is a Bangladeshi justice of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. He was appointed in 2004. Early life and education Rahman was born in Cumilla district on 9 December 1965. His father late Rezaur Rahman was a prominent lawyer of Cumilla Bar Association and was principal of The Cumilla Law College. His mother's name is late Afsari Rahman. This article presents a list of cities and towns in Bangladesh. According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives of Bangladesh, there are 532 urban centres in Bangladesh.
